PROJECT WORK

Project-1 (M.Tech-Main Project)

Title: ALU Design Using Vedic Mathematics.

Description: The main objective of this work is to implement an Arithmetic unit which Makes use of Vedic Mathematics algorithm for multiplication. The Arithmetic unit that has been made performs multiplication, addition, subtraction and Multiply Accumulate operations. The MAC unit, used in the Arithmetic module uses a fast multiplier, built with Vedic Mathematics Algorithm. Also, square and cube algorithms of Vedic Mathematics.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Architectural Design.

• RTL coding in Verilog using Xilinx ISim 12.3.

• Test bench Writing.

• Synthesis and Implementation done using Xilinx ISE 12.3 Spartan-3E kit.

PROJECT DONE AT SANDEEPANI SCHOOL OF VLSI DESIGN:

1. Huffman encoder

Description: Huffman encoder can be used as a form of text data compression. Huffman encoding is notably used in zipping files where in the English alphabets are assigned codes of different bit lengths depending on their probabilities of occurrence. This gives the compressed file, which can later be extracted using decoding circuitry.

Responsibility: Modelling the encoder part using Verilog as the hardware description language and simulated using ISIM.

2. VGA Controller

Description: A video adapter provides the interface between computer and monitor. VGA display (monitor) is driven by the CPU. In this project we had to design a VGA controller to drive VGA display with 640 x 480 resolutions and change the colour of the screen and also display geometrical objects.

Responsibility: From the requirement, I derived the specification for VGA controller. Then wrote the RTL description and finally implemented on Spartan-3E

Environment: Verilog, Xilinx ISE-Spartan-3E kit (for implementation).

3. Creating a class based verification environment using system verilog .

¬¬¬¬¬¬Description : In this project we have chosen RAM as a DUT for which Read and Write Operation has been done using AMBA-APB protocol and developed a class based environment.

4. Design and Implementation of UART (Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter) for serial communication using Verilog.

¬¬¬¬¬¬Description : In this project a simple UART is designed which sends and receives data at baud rate of 11520 (according to RS-232 standards), It transmits 8-data bits with 0 start bit and 1 stop bit, in total 10 bits serially and receives serially.

5. Design and Implementation of Calculator in Verilog.

¬¬¬¬¬¬Description : This Calculator uses 4-bit Arithmetic and Logical unit to perform arithmetic and logical operations, 16x8 RAM Memory to store data and instructions, Control FSM to control all transactions and comparator to compare result with expected result, and can operate 13 instructions on 4-bit data.

6.Designing of chocolate Vending machine in Verilog.

¬¬¬¬¬¬Description : Chocolate vending machine recognises three coins of Rs.1, Rs.2 and Rs.5 and at output give chocolate chosen from four chocolate options, and if extra money is paid return the change.

7.Design and Implementation of Security System in Verilog.

¬¬¬¬¬¬Description : This security system can be used for banks security, in which if someone wants to break the security system and enters in a bank; it generates an alarm after waiting for some time.

Project-2 (B.E-Main Project-Thesis)

Title: Video Surveillance for Smokers Using Cell phone with Embedded Technology.

Description: The main objective of the project is to track the smokers in the banned places and also to keep track of fire and explosions.

The Project has been presented in the Exhibition called AVISHKAR-09, Hosapete.

Project-3 (Diploma Project)

Title: Embedded Based Wireless Alarm System using Microcontroller.

Description: The main objective of the project is to keep track of fire, pressure, magnetic and light sensors. Then displays it automatically on LCD display with alarm.
