- Serve as the sole administrator, providing expert oversight and direction in all aspects of a network, with approximately 50 hosts used to design application-specific integrated circuits.
- Recommend and facilitate the move from Solaris to Linux systems, implementing Linux test hosts and eventual move to Linux-based hosts.
- Ensure that backup systems are upgraded to enable complete backup processing during weekends using Legato Networker.
- Manage all aspects of host security for network, including planning and implementation, ensuring that systems remain updated on patches and errata.
- Handle configuration of the mail server using postfix for security and conduct research, selection, and submission of purchase orders for network hardware and software.
Key Accomplishments:
- Completed the installation, maintenance and, configuration of both hardware and software as storage capacity grew from a 60GB to the present 20TB and presently investigating data deduplication hardware.
- Organized and executed upgrades to network infrastructure to move to gigabit Ethernet and transferred network information storage from NIS to LDAP.
- Achieved approximately 99.9% uptime, conducting research and implementing changes to systems such as hardware/software upgrades to constantly ensure and improve network availability, speed, and reliability, given its 24/7 active usage by engineers around the world.
- Wrote Perl scripts to implement network changes as well as configured and maintained LSF workload management system.
