Role Definition Quality Manager.

Implement, control and perform in-house and external Quality Audits in compliance with ISO9001:2008 and EASA requirements, company procedures and standards.

Draft or amend the company’s mandatory manuals and procedures including Operations Manual (Parts A, B, C & D) Maintenance Management Organisation Exposition, Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition, Approved Aircraft Maintenance Programme, Minimum Equipment List, Engineering Procedures Manual and Safety Management System Manual.

Manage and control the Technical Library.

Manage and control the Technical Records Library.

Contribute to building a culture of personal accountability where quality aspects such as continual improvement are achievable, and at-risk behaviours are challenged.

Manage and maintain the Human Factors Training requirements.

Manage and maintain the continuation training requirements.

Manage and maintain the organisation’s personal approvals system including personnel licence renewal requirements from the regulatory authority and competence assessment system.

Provide coaching and training to ensure that all organizational activities performed by engineering and flying staff are provided with the tools and knowledge to allow them to work within the operating envelope of legislation, aircraft manufacturers procedures and competence.

Carry out error investigations and maintain the Maintenance Error Management System.

Undertake site visits as required. (This includes other organisations contracted by the operator to perform tasks to ensure tasks are being carried out within the terms of the contract, the regulatory requirements and equipment Type Certificate or Supplementary Type Certificate holder’s instructions and procedures)

Work to the processes and procedures as set out inform the relevant manager of any omissions or changes required to these instructions. Arrange a follow up audit to ensure the changes required have been implemented.

Ensure that department heads and managers take responsibility for the quality of their staff’s work with to ensure the aim of completing each task right the first time.

Implement the Data Discrepancy Reporting System to ensure that ambiguous, incorrect or missing data is returned to the owner and corrected to ensure the task described can be achieved to the desired standard safely.

Communicate with and support personnel in support of the achievement of the operational objectives and Customer Satisfaction:

Work closely with the management, the UK Civil Aviation Authority and the European Aviation Safety Agency to ensure a high level of safety and legislator compliance.

Assist, as required or directed, with the evaluation of hazards and risks to ensure that all are identified where possible to ensure plans, procedures or equipment is provided to ensure safety is maintained and minimize disruption to operations.

Assist Managers and Personnel in achieving the high standards of performance required by the operator.

Report a summary of audit findings to Accountable Manager. Report to Accountable Manager when audit findings are not corrected.

Feb 99 - June 99 Acting Line Maintenance Manager, Brymon Airways BRS (Full service and offshore oil support operator).

Responsible for all Line Maintenance, performance and reliability of 17 DHC-8 aircraft performing scheduled services out of BRS, ABZ and PLH and 12 outstations, line maintenance, performance and reliability of 2 DHC-7 aircraft performing oil charter out of ABZ.
