Created, composed, and directed inspirational productions and authored 14 songs (cast of 150 with a 35 piece orchestra). Coordinated, choreographed and produced 15 drama and music productions/ musicals for holidays and other events

Directed and conducted 26 musical productions such as “Jesus, Son of God”, “Believe”, “ Forever Triumph”, “In Christ Alone”, “Noel, Jesus Is Born”, “Praise Noels”, “Let Freedom Ring” . Strong choral traditions from directing contemporary praise teams to a choir with 300 voices.

RELATED MINISTRY AND MISSIONS WORK

Born on the mission field in Vera Cruz, Mexico, where parents were missionaries and then they served for three years in Paraguay, South America.

While attending Azusa Pacific University, became the director and coordinator of 700 high school and college youth on a ten-day mission trip to Mexico called ‘Mexicali Outreach’.

Held crusades in Guatemala and El Salvador evangelizing and ministering to local pastors and Bible schools.

As Road Manager and a lead vocalist of the gospel group, ‘ Roger Breland and Truth’. Ministered through music in Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Denmark, Israel, Jamaica, Canada, and Mexico.

Ministered in Spanish annually at the Fred Jordan Rescue Mission in skid row in Los Angeles, California, during large events of 10,000 people (Christmas and Easter) as a special guest soloist.

Engineered, organized, and directed meal distribution with the Red Cross to hundreds of Guatemalan people of Lake Worth, Florida, in the after-math of the devastating Hurricane Wilma.

Authored monthly articles with a spiritually encouraging emphasis.

Served as producer and editor of weekly Christian television program for four years.

PROFESSIONAL HISTORY

July 2011 – Musical Director for Musical Theater of Orange County – Performing ‘The Wizard of Oz’ at the Nechita Center for the Performing Arts in Orange California. Musical director for the last two weeks where there were seven performances and over 2200 in attendance.

September 2006 – present – Self Employed Vocal and Piano Teacher – currently teaching 10 elementary, junior high, and high school students. I am teaching voice and piano in their homes and a studio.

September 2010 – present - Homeschool Family Ministries, Huntington Beach, CA Teaching junior high and high school students’ piano at Calvary Baptist Church. 12 students this past school year and anticipating tripling the attendance by adding an elementary age piano class as well as a praise and worship band class.

August 2010 – May 2011 – Shoreline Academy of the Arts, Fountain Valley, CA I am one of the founders of this academy at Shoreline Baptist School. Teaching voice, children’s choir, piano, and drama for elementary and junior high school students. Performed “Narnia” the musical. During this year I have taught 45 students music, voice, music theory and piano.

April 2010 – present- Virtuosos Russian Music Academy, Fountain Valley, CA

Teaching 45-55 students each week both Piano and Voice. Ages range from 4 years to adults. Most students are from Vietnam, including the founder and director.

September 2008 – present – Arts and Learning Conservatory, Orange County, CA

Music / Vocal Director, Pianist and Drama Director. Teaching at Vanguard University. A non-profit organization dedicated to premier arts instruction for ages 6-18 years. Music / Vocal Director and Piano Teacher. Directed Performances of “Narnia”, “Spring Camp Rock”, “Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back”.” The Return of the Jedi”, “You’re Good Man Charlie Brown”, “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”, “Aladdin”, “The Wizard of Oz”, and “Alice In Wonderland”. Executive/ Pastor of Worship and Singles. Contemporary worship style. Supervised 10 part-time and full-time paid staff and 200 plus volunteers. Wrote for 40 piece orchestra, and a cast of 75, original script, and original songs for the play entitled, “Embrace the Anointed One”.

1984 – 2001 – Art Ortiz Ministries

Evangelist/President. Ministering in song, preaching and teaching the Word in forty-one states of the U.S. and forty different denominations in both English and Spanish. Ministered in song in over 5,000 services in 40 states and 40 different denominations. Also ministered in Guatemala and Mexico. Recorded ten gospel recordings, six in English and 4 in Spanish.

1982 – 1984 – Melodyland Christian Center, Anaheim, CA. (Nondenominational. 10,000 attendance)

Pastor of Worship. Supervised seven paid staff and over 800 volunteers. Organized and directed 300 voice choir, forty-five piece orchestra, and 150 cast members in musicals and dramas. Directing special guest such as Della Reese, Dino Kartsonakis, and Andre Crouch.

1979 – 1982 – Sunnyside Temple, Waterloo, IA (Wesleyan – 1600 weekly attendance)

Pastor of Worship / Singles. Supervised paid staff and 200 volunteers. Directed and produced a weekly TV Sunday morning program of each service that aired throughout the state of Iowa.

1978 – 1979 – PTL Club- Christian Television Network, Charlotte, NC

Spanish Administrative Assistant and TV Soloist. Christian Television Network called Club PTL (Para Todo Latino) aired in twenty-one (21) Latin American and Spanish speaking countries.

1975 – 1978 – Truth – Professional contemporary gospel group

Road manager and lead soloist for Roger Breland and Truth from Moblie, Alabama. Performed 1200 concerts with eighteen professional musicians. These performances were in 13 countries and 49 states in the USA in Universities, Colleges, High Schools, Churches, Church Denomination Conventions, Six Flags America, and Military Bases.(The John F. Kennedy Aircraft Carrier). 1977 Dove Awards band and back up singers for each artist nominated such as B. J. Thomas, and Gray S. Paxton.
