Objective
I would like to further my experience and knowledge in production,
and marketing. I have been involved in the print and print related business
for many years. I get great satisfaction in getting things done correctly
and efficiently, and I also enjoy working with wood and steel. A tradesman
should not only be prepared to teach but also to help others to learn, from
experienced ones. So, where there is something new to learn I am willing
and available, not only to learn but also to offer my experience and
expertise to those that want to learn from me. Sales and marketing are as
are important to me. Getting buyers for what we produce is vital, and this
is another part of me that I am more than willing to pursue to the
companies benefit. At this stage, I look forward to new challenges, in a
new country; Travel would not be a major problem either.
Summary of Qualification
I have extensive knowledge and experience with customers, managing
staff, creating production schedules and setting up operating systems. I
served a 5 year apprenticeship in Rotogravure and Packaging; I ran multi
color rotogravure presses up to 9 colors, with die-cutting and inline
trimming. This involves setting up multi color units to run at high speed
for the production of anything from alcohol and cigarette labels to carrier
bags. Also, involving the set up and running of all ancillary equipment
such as bag making, lamination, waxing, guillotine and fold.
Getting systems to run effectively and smoothly has always been my goal
and objective, For most of my working life I have been self-employed in
the silkscreen, signage industry, print finishing which involved
everything from make up of samples, to assemble of Die cut cartons and
carrier bags, all other print finishing. Sourced new clients and maintained
an existing customer base. My work load involved everything from printing
on pens to multicolor textile prints, and running on multicolor high speed
automatic presses. Being self employed I have learned to think outside of
the box with regards to finding ways to get difficult jobs and staff to
flow into feasible production runs again from short runs of a few items to
millions of copies. I employed up to 200 staff at a time for short runs of
a month or two at a time, we where involved in everything from high
security work such as make up of voter election ballot papers for African
country elections to Sample packs of different marketing product samples.
Print finishing entailed, carton and Box make up, Folders and every
possible idea in between and Finishing in the print industry involved late
deliverers from the printer, pressure from the end user and difficult work
that usually a machine could not be used. Then we had to find a way to
supply our customer's clients with their work on time and correctly
finished. I pride myself in knowing that most of the time we managed to get
our mission accomplished successfully.
