This project facilitates the entry and maintenance of policy information of Plan Sponsors. The policy information is required in the processes like New Business, Benefit Enquiry, and Claims Adjudication. The users of policy information includes Plan Co-ordination Consultants, Claim Processors, Customer Services and some Plan Sponsors. Then, system handles large volume of data and stores some amount of historical data.

Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act: This act mandates the integration of certain plan units between medical and behaviour health for both self-funded and fully insured plan sponsors if they elect to carve out their behaviour health to an external vendor.

Application PSIL (Plan Sponsor and Information Layer) –(Online and Batch coding & testing)

Domain Health Care

Duration Five Months

Technologies COBOL, DB2, XPED and interaction between two application.

Environment Mainframe, Windows XP

Team Size Five

Responsibility Project Estimation, Analysis, Design, Development, Unit testing, System testing.

Synopsis

Request #2

This project is used as a repository to keep plan sponsor’s information with uniquely identifiable PSUID. The health care insurance provider may be present in many forms that are setup at top level like plan, benefit, hospital networks, PSIL needs to have information with same name and address plan sponsor as one, so that this information can be used in the downstream systems for members information, billing and entitlement.

APM Elimination : This project is about elimination of Assist Policy Master an IDMS database from which is fed data from Policy Entry and Reporting Systems through nightly jobs, as this application takes data from this system there was one day time lag between the updated data to be populated into PSIL system. By eliminating APM and bridge the time lag there was a need to have a real time system which can pull data as soon as there is any activity at the top level and database is updated.

Request #5

Request #6

Request #7

This project involves converting the various healthcare plans to claim understandable form so that claim adjudication takes place correctly. This is a bridge application between the system involving plan setup and the system responsible for reimbursing the claims related to healthcare services.

HCR Preventive Benefit Care: PPACA (regulation ID PHSA-2713) requires non-grandfathered plans to provide coverage for “Preventive Care”. This coverage must be provided without cost sharing. Mapping Tool One Shot : New TOS codes need to be added to Adult Routine Physical Exam provisions.

Waiver / Edit rule automation by TPID: This request will automate the association of approved WR/ER for new Small Group plans that are identified by TPID and are considered to be locked plans. This project will reduce the repetitive manual steps currently needed to associate an existing WR to a new plan identified by a locked TPID, thus improving Plan readiness.

Reference Based Pricing (BEN):This request allows AETNA to provide a mechanism to control costs of certain high cost commodity procedures by capping them at fixed cost. This fixed cost will be market specific based on available data.

Building of new record type to contain new field with information related to Reference Based Pricing. Apply sort when applying mapping, applying hashing logic to new record and applying scrubbing logic.

MS Expansion: ACAS MS record allows for upto 1445 TOS/POS codes per record. There are several MS records that are close to reaching the maximum allowed TOS?POS codes. With addition of 68 new TOS codes being created, APC build will exceed maximum number of TOS?POS codes.APC must allow new field on MS record that APC will automatically apply an indicator to when it has filed MS record. A new MX record must be supported that can hold atleast 1445 TOS/POS codes and that will become an extension of MS record when needed.

MS (Managed Services): Managed services is comprising of production support activities. It involves solving IM tickets in a definite amount of time called as SLA. Also it involves the scheduling of production jobs in ZEKE, to check production spool and to solve production job-abends within a very short span of time so that it can be run with in no time. To deliver ADHOC report to the client as per his requirement on that particular day. It also involves the Beeper Support i.e. in case if jobs in production get abend (in that case the beeper will ring)then provide support within 10-15 minutes.
