PROJECTS
* Power Converter: Designed and built transformer and boost converter and using PWM take 12VDC to 180VDC. An H_Bridge and PWM were used to create a sinewave from 180V DC to 110 V / 60 Hz AC.
* Coal to Wind: Replaced coal plants in Columbia and Oakridge (Wisconsin), and upgraded for 20% growth over the next decade using PowerWorld.
* Greenhouse Control System: Designed using a DSP with an HPI daughter card, a Matlab GUI, a soil-moisture sensor,& ambient light sensor, RGB LED stars, a small water pump. The moisture and light levels are controlled by plant type and age.
* Leakage Transformer Ballast: Designed using Excel and Matlab to maximize efficiency and minimize cost.
* Solar Battery Charger & Flashlight: Using a schematic and an unprinted board, the board layout was designed, implemented, debugged, and verified operation.
* Thermal Coffee Mug: Using a Peltier cooler, a PWM, and an IC sensor, the
circuitry was built, tested, and controlled by a GUI created in Labview.
* Zero Energy Housing: Team project across four engineering fields with Habitat for Humanity. A geothermal & solar water heater hybrid was designed. Using other efficient design techniques, the house was designed and tested using RETscreen.
* Stopwatch: Designed using Quartus, built from the gate level.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Lab Assistant
Wisconsin Electric Machines and Power Electronics Consortium (WEMPEC)
Madison, WI 02/07 - 01/08
Built current and voltage sensors using schematics, soldered, tested, isolated problems, debugged and verified operation. Assisted in the design of a pre-charge circuit to simulate a lightning strike.
