 Proficient with MS SQL/MS Access for database organization and C++, MATLAB.

 Fluent with English, Chinese Mandarin; Functional in Japanese.

Research Experience

University of Rochester Rochester, NY

Research Assistant September 2003 - Present

 Designed and prototyped the Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) system for sub-surface eyelid study; wrote drivers to trigger camera and acquire images; wrote .dll of FFT analysis and invoked these functions within LabVIEW for post processing, saved measurement records in database for further research.

Tools used: NI PCI-6731, PCI-1428, MATLAB, LabVIEW, MS Access

 Wrote a scientific application to observe corrosion crack growth of Al samples under stress; collected data to examine crack growth, adjusted loading level, generated test reports automatically.

Tools used: CompactDAQ, load cell, extensometer, ball-screw actuator, LabVIEW.

 Worked for a Flow Monitor prototype design; the HMI is utilized for parameter setup and system display, monitor data acquisition from pressure transducer for dispense dosage analysis, and output triggers for alarms to interface external hardware.

Tools used: NI USB-6008, TPC-2006, LabVIEW, pressure transducer.

 Design and built a piston-cylinder-type pressure vessel to measure the dielectric constant of piezoelectric single crystals under hydrostatic pressure.

Tools used: SolidWorks.

 Designed in situ mechanical loading stage (mechanical testing under microscope) to perform Hertzian contact and bending test on mm-sized piezoelectric single crystals. Authored two publications.

Tools used: SolidWorks.

 Analyzed piezoelectric single crystals stress field and voltage potential induced by mechanical/electrical loading using ANSYS.

Tools used: ANSYS.

Working Experience

American Ultraviolet,Lesco division Torrance, CA

Mechanical Engineer May 2008 - Dec 2008

 Created UV light products test station under manufacturing environments; customized parallel process model for database logging and html report generation; Check light intensity and uniformity, saved light spectrum results as image files for quality control;

Tools used: TestStand, LabVIEW, photodiode.

 Developed LabVIEW application for UV light bulbs inspection, captured silhouette images of bulbs to measure bulb features such as cathode concentricity, distance between cathode and anode; saved results in database.

Tools used: NI PXI-1409, Sanyo vcb-3374 CCD camera, LabVIEW.

 R&D research on new rocket integrate product to reduce the working temperature of the UV bulb; successfully obtained UV bulb warranty from the manufacturer generating $150K profits for the first order contract.

 Redesign ECO-COATER product; revised PLC code using FP WIN Pro to control hydraulic and pneumatic (pumps and valves) components.

Tools used: FP WIN Pro, Autodesk Inventor.

 Worked as a team member to build multiple stations conveyor system. Created manual for PLC touch screen operation system.
