Resume:

Matthew Purbrick, BSc (Hons)

** ********* ***, ******, *****, Vale of Glamorgan, CF62 3EA, 075******** ************@*******.***

Personal Statement

I am an Architectural Design and Technology graduate through Cardiff Metropolitan University (UWIC) with some experience of the industry. I particularly enjoy working with Auto Cad and Revit to name but two programs. My ambition is to work for an organisation where expertise and enthusiasm are valued and continued professional development expected.

Skills

• My tutors commented on the quality and professionalism of my AutoCad work and presentations at UWIC.

• During my time at Pentan Partnership I was involved in helping the Architects and Technologists, I noted the adherence to customer requirement involved.

• Customer service is an area I have been involved with for a number of years and its importance for negotiating and diplomacy I see as essential in any work role.

• I am well organised and deliver to deadlines mapping out ways to let myself know how much needs to be accomplished for completion.

• My AutoCAD and Revit Architecture 2010/2012 I learned through my studies, but I have also worked with Bentley Micro station during my time in practice and taught myself Photoshop CS4/CS5 and 3DStudio Max.

Relevant Work Experience

I spent 5 weeks at Pentan Partnership during the summer of 2010 to gain experience in the workplace as I understood this would help me gain an understanding of how a practice is run and the typical roles of an Architectural Technologist. During my time at Pentan Partnership I was involved in helping the architects and technologists in a number of ways including surveying projects and CAD work using Bentley Microstation and Google Sketchup on current projects. After I completed my degree I contacted Pentan Partnership once again to see if any work experience places were available, we then set up a placement through GO Wales, which organises paid work placements for up to 10 weeks. On top of the work expected of me in Pentan I also had to complete tasks, self assessments and logs for GO Wales, at the end of the placement I received an Award stating the work I had completed. On this placement I was trusted with more difficult tasks often working more than the standard hours required of me to complete the projects to a high standard. Work included detailing a variety of domestic projects eg. Ramps, bin stores, dwellings. I was also trusted with research work in which I had to work closely with a member of staff, just before the deadline for the project, the member of the team was taken ill, so I had to collate all the information, present it to a high standard and add information from out of house members of the team.

Higher Education

Bsc (Hons) in Architectural Design and Technology UWIC 2009/11

I chose this course as it appealed to me due to the variety of software and techniques the course offered to teach, I realised early on that an understanding of a variety of design packages was crucial to succeed in the industry with an emphasis of BIM software. From the design aspect, the tutors had a very varied background which I thought would be beneficial to further my learning as if a problem did arise within design, it could be overcome with multiple ways.
