Working for David Brown Gear Systems,Bangalore: Mar 2012 - till date

Designation: FEA Engineer

Responsibilities:

• Analyzed power transmission systems such as indusial gear units, wind turbine gear units, Tidal turbine gear units, high/Low speed gear boxes using Ansys classic and workbench.

• Planning and estimation of the project hours. Guiding and executing the project.

Project Executed:

1) Finite Element Modeling and Analysis of Gear Case analysis

Environment : Ansys workbench 13

Description : The scope of the project is complete FE modeling of various gear cases (industrial, low & high speed) body with solid elements. Defined all contacts and screw connections needs to be modeled with beam elements. Gear case needs to be checked for its required gear meshing frequencies by conducting Dynamic Analysis and for Structural rigidity conducting nonlinear analysis and prepared the detailed report on the obtained results.

2) Finite Element Modeling and Analysis of bearing distortion analysis

Environment : Ansys workbench 13

Description : Gear case bearing bores are analyzed under bearing loads to check the amount of distortion as these loads are applied in a parabolic distribution with a cosine function. The distortions are validated against the bearing bore tolerance limit. The bearing distortions are even represented graphically.

3) Finite Element Modeling and Analysis of Wind turbine gear unit and planet carrier analysis

Environment : Ansys workbench 13

Description : A separate analysis is carried out for wind turbine gear unit and planet carrier assembly. The WT gear unit is analyzed for its structural stiffness and possible material yield under nominal power condition where as in the planet carrier assembly the circumferential displacement and stress across the face of planet gear is reported. Flexible pins are also analyzed to check the force distribution among the planets while transmitting the torque.

4) Finite Element Modeling and Analysis of Base plate analysis

Environment : Ansys workbench 13

Description : Base plate is used as a platform to mount unbalanced weights of gear unit and motor. Gear case input shaft is connected to the motor to get the power through breaks and clutches. The plate is analyzed for its structural stability and also to see the torque arm holding capacity to avoid the plate to turn around.

Working for Concurrent Analysis Private Limited, Hyd: Aug 2009- Feb 2012

Designation: CAE Analyst

Responsibilities:

• Modeling of all the parts, defined contacts, prepared input deck for ANSYS solver and carried analysis and views the results in Hyper View and prepared the detailed report on the obtained results.

• Work involves 3D modeling of different Engineering, Aerospace and Automobile components using Solid works.

• Analyzing the 3D models generated in CAD software using Ansys. Preprocessing is done in Hypermesh.

Project Executed:

1) Finite Element Modeling and Analysis of Canted Proportional Solid Motor

Environment : Hypermesh10, Ansys classic 11.

Client : DRDL

Description : The scope of the project is complete modeling of CANPSM body with hex elements. In the process of meshing all perpendicular welds needs to be connected by merging the nodes, all parallel welds needs to be connected by giving double thickness, screw connections needs to be modeled with beam and rigid spider elements and one layer of shell elements needs to be introduced in to the solid elements where solid hex mesh and shell meshes interface. Finally deck needs to be prepared for ANSYS ran.

2) Finite Element Modeling and Analysis of Straight Nozzle

Environment : Hypermesh10, Ansys classic 11

Client : DRDL

Description : The scope of the project is complete modeling of ST body with 2D – symmetric. In the process of meshing all perpendicular welds needs to be connected by merging the nodes. Finally deck needs to be prepared for ANSYS ran.

3) Finite Element Modeling and Analysis of Electrical cabinet box

Environment : Hypermesh10, Ansys classic 11

Client : DRDL

Description : The scope of this project is to FE modeling of frame and other parts with shell elements, electrical parts needs to be represented by mass elements, mass balancing and deck preparation for ANSYS. Electrical cabinet needs to be checked for its required natural frequencies by conducting Modal analysis.

4) Finite Element Modeling and Analysis of Ship Propeller

Client : NSTL

Environment : Hypermesh10

Description : The scope of the project is complete modeling of Ship Propeller body with shell elements and hex elements where ever is required. In the process of meshing all perpendicular welds needs to be connected by merging the nodes, all parallel welds needs to be connected by giving double thickness, screw connections needs to be modeled with beam and rigid spider elements and one layer of shell elements need to be introduced in to the solid elements where solid hex mesh and shell meshes interface. Finally deck needs to be prepared for CFD ran.
