• Assisted Department Head and Office Manager to ensure smooth office functioning – mainly plan preparation and keep submission on schedule and under budget.

• Responsible for client coordination, project planning, budget and proposal preparation, project scheduling, billings, collections, writing change orders, and allocating resources for timely completion of the project.

• Technical responsibilities include design and plan preparation, coordination with other engineering companies (for multi phase joint effort projects), quality control, coordination with County agencies, and technical training for fresh engineers.

KEY PROJECTS:

Port Potomac, Prince William County, VA.

• Prepared site plan for 273 townhouse units in two phases. The larger phase included infrastructure plans, storm water management, erosion and sediment control, and off-site road improvements. The project was quite complex from the County’s point of view as the smaller project was confirmed within the boundary of the larger project.

• Prepared a separate plan for a recreational and commercial area within the project and coordinated plan progress with other consulting engineers for timely submission and clarity for county reviewers.

Madison Crescent, Prince William County, VA. A planned mixed-use project currently under design includes road improvements, a mile of off-site water line, a sewer pump station, a retail shopping center, multi-family and single-family subdivision, and area for future commercial use. The project is on accelerated schedule to meet the clients other commitments.

Hotels at Dulles Business Park, Fairfax, VA.

• Designed three hotels for two separate owners on two parcels at Dulles Business Park. First hotel is open; second hotel is under construction.

Multi-family Developments, Prince William County, VA.

• Participated in design and coordination of multi family developments in Prince William County for over a thousand units at four different locations. Responsibilities included the design and plan approval, and helping the client with obtaining construction permits.

Single-Family Developments, Northern Virginia.

• Senior Project Manager for various clients - design of 158 unit sub-division in Fauquier County, a 70 and 50 unit subdivision in Prince William County and a 35 unit sub-division in Fairfax County.

• Responsible for infrastructure plan preparation and approval through the County while directly supervised all engineering design and plan production.

• Coordinated the overall design and plan approval of several 7-Eleven stores with gasoline sales in different counties of Virginia and Maryland.

• Responsibilities include preparation of Special Use/Exception Plans and construction documents, coordination with Attorneys and various County agencies for plan approvals, attending public hearings, and coordinating with utility companies and contractors for timely start of construction.

Saint Paul’s Church. Damascus, Maryland.

• Prepared master plan including cost estimate for a 15-acre site to include the Church, an educational center, day care, and a social hall to be phased in seven stages.

• Prepared construction plans for Phase I to utilize existing parking with ultimate site layout. Prepared storm drain, storm water management, water and sewer plans, and erosion and sediment control plans, for present and ultimate conditions.

Montgomery County Public Schools. Montgomery County, Maryland.

• Retrofitted existing bus maintenance facilities at Shady Grove site, Randolph Road site, and Clarksburg site with water quality facilities to comply with MPDES requirements. Design included a permanent sediment trap and canopies at Shady Grove site, a storm water management pond at Randolph Road site (estimated construction cost $1.2 million), and existing storm water management pond modifications with provisions for water quality in a special protection area at Clarksburg site.

PATTON HARRIS RUST & ASSOCIATES. October 1994 – March 1997

Responsibilities included: overall design and quality control; supervision and training of team of five engineers and technicians; coordination with clients; scheduling and manpower allocation; preparing proposals and monitoring project progress and budget; detailed cost estimates; attendance to public hearings, resolution of design and scheduling issues.

Rixlew Lane/Wellington Road. Prince William County, Virginia.

• Design responsibile for widening and relocation of 2.1 km of four and five-lane road. Project included the design of complex system of storm water management ponds; flood plain studies; erosion and sediment control plans; signal, signing and pavement marking plans and sequence of construction and maintenance of traffic plans. Attended public hearings, scheduled preparation of change orders, coordinated with VDOT, other Consultants, and municipal officials.

I-64 Ramp Design. Allegheny County, Virginia.

• Compared parallel and taper ramp designs and evaluated alternatives. Design consisted of two new off-ramps and improvements to existing on-ramp and to neighboring side streets.

• Coordinated extensively with sub-consultants on drainage design, and on erosion and sediment control and maintenance of traffic plans. Final plans included design of five traffic signals, pavement marking and signing. Responsible for quality control for the project and coordination with VDOT regarding bridge plans.

Widewater Parkway. Stafford County, Virginia.

• Provided preliminary sketch plans for a 5-mile corridor serving a 1,000-acre site.

• Studied various scenarios for five-phase construction, utilizing existing alternate routes.

• Completed cost comparisons and benefit analysis of the alternative schemes considered and contributed in the preparation of the traffic report.

• Responsible for intersection widening design, including the Route 7 additional dual left turn lanes and a right turn lane. Storm drainage was modified and water and sanitary lines were relocated to avoid conflicts.

Bailey Center. Fairfax County, Virginia.

• Responsible for internal street layout, design of storm drainage, water lines, sanitary sewer, and two-phase erosion and sediment control plans (25-acre site at the intersection of Route 7 and Columbia Pike, in Maryland).

Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church. Fairfax County, Virginia.

• Completed construction plans for 7-acre parcel, including storm drainage design, two storm water management ponds, water and sanitary sewer design.

Mount Vernon. City of Alexandria, Virginia. (Renowned tourist attraction site)

• Prepared a special exception plan for construction of a barn and ancillary sheds. Included in the design was a sanitary pump station with 2,200 feet of pipe.

• Evaluated conflicts, designed relocations, and adjustment for underground utilities, and recommended drainage redesign to eliminate conflicts.

Navy Airport Taxi Rehabilitation. Norfolk, Virginia.

• Complete field inspection, designed the required pavement improvements, evaluated effect on existing drainage patterns, and performed quantity takeoffs in accordance with Navy’s format.

• Responsible for managing the preparation of grade establishment plans, storm drainage, traffic maintenance and paving plans.
