An experienced Healthcare Executive with over 15 years experience in various healthcare settings. Extensive experience in financial management, budgeting and strategic planning and am ambitious and goal oriented in expanding programs and improving their financial standing. Homer Senior Citizens Inc. Homer AK 2010 - Present
Executive Director
• Directed service of a 40 unit Assisted Living, four independent living complexes and a Nutrition Program and a Clinical Day Program.
• Wrote and submitted AHFC, Kenai Borough, and Unite Way Grants and other grants that were approved for various projects.
• Improved Public Relation and Fundraising
• Greatly improved financial monitoring and program accountability
Leadership Accomplishment:
Promoted the Homer Senior Citizen Inc. programs to the Homer AK community in a positive manner.
Encouraged staff to move the annual talent show to a larger setting, solicited contributions to use as auction items and door prizes. Result: The 9th Annual Homer Senior Talent show rose over $2,700 from admission and auction sales and it was attended by over 200 people. Day program attendance has increased since the talent show, with many stating the show made the Day Program known to them.
AseraCare Hospice of Corinth & AseraCare Hospice of Tupelo, Corinth, MS 2007 – 2008
Executive Director
• Directed all service of two hospice offices to include financial management, budgeting, personnel and regulatory compliance.
• Provided marketing and public relations to community entities and potential referral sources.
• Greatly reduced CAP payments owned from previous three years issues through improved documentation and patient screening.
Leadership Accomplishments:
Identified and listened to concerns of referring facility staves and SNF regional management with regard to patient referrals. Visited with Administrator of referring entity weekly and initiated regular meeting with Regional Management of local SNF. Assured all involved of accountability and built strong relationships to facilitate growth. Result: An increase from an average of 2 to an average of 7 SNF patients from sister facilities per month.
Analyzed, restructured and implemented changes to contract negotiation. Existing Medical Director contract paid a very high monthly flat rate with no time requirement rather than an hourly rate for service. Gained buy in from Medical Director by describing the compliance adherence and benefits of new contract. Result: AseraCare saved over $800 per month and received more input from the Medical Director.
Hospice of Cumberland County, Crossville, TN 2004 – 2007
Executive Director
• Established first contract for hospital inpatient services (Cumberland Medical Center)
• Attempted to expand service into three additional counties by researching, writing and presenting Certificate of Need (CON) application to the Tennessee Board of Health.
• Helped raise over 75K in donation in both 2005 and in 2006.
Leadership Accomplishments:
Recognized need to increase service area to improve economy of scale and to meet mission of providing quality hospice care to local community. Researched, wrote and presented to Tennessee Healthcare Board application for Certificate Of Need to serve three neighboring counties. Result: Expanded the service area and increased revenue through increased census from much larger service area.
Expanded service site and product offering by researching inpatient hospital hospice care, presenting a pro-forma reflecting hospital savings to key decision makers at the local hospital, and negotiating a contract. Result: Increased census by an average of 4 patients per day and prevented the loss of others because of the ability to pick up patients earlier and continue with them longer.
Paradise Oaks Healthcare Center, Cloverdale, OH 2002 – 2004

• Doubled Medicare census in the first three months from 8 to 19 through selective admission and increased RUG level through work with the MDS coordinator.
• Increased referral sources through marketing.
• Worked with the rehabilitation staff to appropriately increase skilled days by ramping up client level of therapy and ramping down. ( bell shaped curve of level of need)
Leadership Accomplishment:
Investigated, modified and monitored a system to improve MDS system that per diem Medicare reimbursement to Nursing Homes is based upon. Educated and reinforced benefits of accurate data collection to staff and support. Result: Per diem increase over 7% in the following 12 months and resident needs were better assessed and met.
