SUMMARY: Over 25 years experience working in Information Technology in all phases of operations including management. Due to a global data center consolidation I recently accepted a buy out from my

employer. I would like to now get back into what I enjoy doing most, which is working in the to day operations of a data center.

SKILLS: Hardware: Various IBM mainframes including a 9672 Parallel Sysplex system at Bank Boston and (6) GS1280s at Computershare. Tape systems include 3480, 3490, 3590, and LTO3, and also Bosch, IBM, and HP tape libraries.

Software: MVS, OPEN VMS, JES2, CICS, CA1, CA7, CA11, OPSMVS, MIM, DFHSM, Omegamon, NDM, FTP, TSO, JCL, DCL, Mobius, SAR, ABS/MDMS, ADSM, Data Protector, Lotus Notes, Outlook, Word, Excel, Windows NT, XP

EXPERIENCE:

COMPUTERSHARE (250 Royall St Canton, Ma) July 2005- July 2009

VMS Computer Operations Manager

Performed a key role in moving the VMS computer operations from Chicago to Canton in December of 2005 and converting over 5,000 clients to the new system over 2 years. This including working in Chicago for several weeks to learn the Computershare applications. I hired all the Canton computer operators (12) and had zero turnover. Managed the timely processing of 100,000 daily jobs and the proper resolution of any aborts. Also conducted staff training, set department policy and wrote department procedures. Off hours support for the help desk was also part of the departments responsibilities and policies and procedures were developed for this.

Maintained the Iron Mountain accounts for offsite backups for the Windows and VMS platforms for 15 North American sites in Canada and the US. Managed VMS disk space and the moved / removed files when necessary. Produced monthly operations reports and monthly client SLA reports. Also interfaced with both internal and client auditors and provided any requested documents. I reduced a routine client research request from 4+ hours to only 15 minutes. This was done by loading 800 gig of client history files onto a hard drive and creating an index to quickly find a shareholder . To improve communication, I instituted weekly change / project status meetings which included system support, product support and data security. I was also conducted staff performance appraisals and assisting in setting staff goals and objectives.

BANK OF BOSTON (2 Morrissey Blvd. Dorchester, Ma) June 1994 – Jun 2005

Computer Operations Group Manager (3rd shift)

Supervised the night shift staff of 25 people in a very fast paced environment with well over 100 applications running across two data centers and several LPARs with a total of 2500 MIPS. Managed the Workload, Console, and Print groups and ensured that all deadlines were met. During the last 2 years at Bank Boston I headed up a group of 3 people that was responsible for running the bank’s stock transfer system. This included scheduling (CA7) and monitoring jobs, correcting abends, maintaining the tape system (CA1), DASD space management, maintaining automation rules (OPS/MVS), and report printing / distribution (Mobius). DST Systems in Kansas City eventually purchased the business and moved the computer systems there. I was hired by DST and to manage the applications remotely until the business was purchased by Computershare. During this time I traveled out to Kansas City about 10 times for disaster recovery exercises and recovery time was reduced 50%. I was also a member of the DST change management team and was responsible for submitting changes for the Canton data center.

EXPERIENCE:

MULTIBANK SERVICE CORP (11 Midstate Dr. Auburn, Ma) Jan 1979 – Jun 1994

Computer Operations Manager

Worked in various jobs starting as a 3rd shift computer operator in 1979, advancing to the night shift manager in 1985 and then the Data Center manager in 1986. While manager I was responsible for the operators, operations analysts, the tape library, the print area, the proof area, and the couriers. During this time I managed many hardware and software conversions and played a key role in creating a disaster recovery plan. Multibank was acquired by Bank Boston in June of 1994 and the operation was moved to Dorchester.
