I’m ** year old and graduated as Marine Engineer in the spring 1989. I have been working in shipping industry since my graduation, only interrupted by a single year where I was working in a shore based leading position.
During my period as engineer, I have gained operational experience through positions in container vessels, bulk carriers, gas carriers, drilling ships, supply vessels/anchor handling tucks and Ferry ships. I have been attending several dockings, and have in relation to this, many times been involved in the planning as well as the actual docking, taking into consideration the time schedule as well as the budget of the vessels.
Latest before transferring to J-Lauritzen A/S, I was working as superintendent engineer in the technical organization of Maersk A/S. Here Alpha Lubricators were my primary area of responsibility and during a period of totally 3 years I was the person in charge of implementing the systems and educating the engineers.
After this I was employed in J-Lauritzen A/S where I entered shipbuilding. Here I have until this day been working with design and construction of Ethylene Carriers and Bulk Carriers in positions as Site Manager and Superintendent Engineer, comprising everything from drawing approval to the final delivery – followed by the final project review and optimizing.
As a person, I’m very keen about my job. Founded by my earlier experience and motivated by my big natural interest in my job, my requirements to my own performance and the results of my team are very high
I’m used to work in a structure which calls for cooperation with my home office when bigger problems and the related decisions have to be taken. Smaller problems are solely dealt with by me and my site team onsite where we take the decisions immediately in order to solve the problems before they grow bigger and develop into bigger problems. The progress of the project is reported to home office in a weekly report.
During my time in China, me and my group have trained the yards QC’s and QA’s up to a level, to which both owner and Class have been satisfied with, as the QA/QC-group from yards site was very young and inexperienced into shipbuilding.
Looking forward to your feed back
