Career Summary

I am a Telecommunications professional with 20+ years experience. An accomplished Technician whose experience is wide with a good time spent in the CO, PBX/ ACD call center market with Harris 20/20 products, and provided technical direction for the mainstream EMEA region. My emphasis being on quality cost effective products and first class services.

I have worked in many different types of telecommunications infrastructures, and liaised at all levels within many industries. I encourage quality and relish a challenge in any field of employment.

Having been present at the offset of VOIP in the Wholesale environment, I have over 9 years in this arena, including designing, building and maintaining VOIP retail and wholesale platforms, billing and back office systems. I have over 15 years of CDR and billing experience, using platforms designed to work on most standard or proprietary voice switches from Nortel DMS to Server based VOIP switching.

I have been involved for the last 6 years in implementing from the ground up a full service wholesale voice infrastructure for Ocala Communications, for which I had total control, over design, build and implementation of the business development, order process, switching and billing. The company also allowed me to hire technicians, Sales and marketing staff to take over the day to day functions of the business.

I am willing to travel as part of my employment, and on past experiences have learned a great deal about my profession, not just in the UK, but in countries such as France, Germany, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain, Italy and the USA. Position: Senior Technician

January 2004 – Present

Specializing in wholesale international resale, switch partitioning and co-location facilities for the telecommunications wholesale industry. My role is to oversee the technical growth in the company, and to work alongside the Finance Officer in ensuring the financial stability of the company. I am a Technician who has played a key role in integrating 3rd party programs like order processing, statistics and remote support into my wholesale operation. I have worked with many vendors and suppliers of network products such as Cisco, Sonus, IPsmarx, and carrier such as IDT, Primus, TATA, and co-location, carrier neutral companies like Arbinet, Telehouse and City Lifeline. During my time at the company I assisted in designing, building and managing a large scale carrier switching network. The network spanned 3 continents across 3 switches, US, UK and South Africa. This is now my 4th large scale Telecommunications network, I have had the fortune to design, procure, install and project manage. My experience in telecommunications switching includes multiple vendors such as Harris, Cisco, Nortel, Sonus and Siemens, and my knowledge of TDM and VOIP switching includes ISDN, SS7, H323 and SIP. With additional experience in WAN/LAN, and network security. I have worked on creating wholesale networks, as well as building calling card platforms for retail. I also have knowledge of outsourcing some of these functions as well as billing and support to new “Cloud” based suppliers, as per the trend in telecoms at this time.

My experience working at such companies as British Telecom and Harris Corporation stand me in good standing, and the experience gained from some of the best training and mentors in the industry has helped me create a sound technical culture within the business

I have vast experience in switching with companies like Harris, GPT, Mitel, Siemens and Cisco. My knowledge of signaling from TDM ISDN to SS7 (including compliance testing), and VOIP H323 and SIP (Including trunking). I have experience on using voice over existing Data Networks, implementing and maintain WAN/LAN and firewall security such as SonicWAll. I have been involved in outsourcing projects to new “cloud” organizations, and have designed and negotiated at c-level to multiple companies in the Telecoms industry. I am an experienced user of Microsoft suite of products, Excel, Project, Visio etc… as used in projects to date

I have controlled contract and support negotiations and have managed up to 25 staff in this role to date. I have also managed staff, with great recommendations from past and present employees.

Telesense UK Ltd

March 2003 – January 2004

Position: Senior Technician

My primary responsibility was to oversee the operations of the telecommunications infrastructure of this international switched network operator, with a skilled team of 5, and a turnover of 6 million pounds per annum. The creation of new products within timescales and budgets is the primary focus.

Telesense main line of business is the termination of mobile calls to most European destinations. This involves a huge amount of research, as well as travel. Telesense was a new start up company, of which I was proud of being a founder member.

Global Network Telephone UK Ltd.

Position: NOC Senior Tech

Jan 2001 – March 2003

My role at GNT was NOC Senior Tech for UK and USA. This involved setting up both London and New York Operations to cater for the wholesale business of GNT UK, and its German mother company GNT GmbH. The London operation housed a Siemens EWSD and was staffed by 8 people covering engineering, customer support, and sales. The New York Operation was run by a single sales entity. To keep costs low I implemented a remote operation for switching and billing, order processing and Service requests using a shared DMS GSP switch housed in Long Island, NY. This proved very successful, and assisted the UK operation in obtaining a very fluid revenue, and profitability in very short time.

However, due to internal issues between UK and German management the company went in to liquidation in March 2003.

World-Link, UK.

Position: Senior Tech

Nov 1999- Jan 2001

As Senior Tech for World-Link, UK, a UK subsidiary of World-Link Inc, based in New York, USA. I oversaw the entire UK technical operation. World-Link was a Carrier’s carrier, and a fully hosted Card wholesale provider, offering One Stop Shop solutions to Telecommunications resellers. I started my employment at World-Link as Technician of Operations, and was soon elevated to Senior Tech, due to my knowledge and ability to drive the business in the UK. I was solely responsible for the growth of the UK office in the Engineering arena.

Aug 1998 - Nov 1999

This position involved maintaining the position of Harris Corporation, as a world leader in the Telecommunications field for Customer Driven Telecommunications products. Overseeing a staff of 5 in installation and support work of varied ranges of Harris switching products. The catchment area is Europe, Middle East and Africa. Duties involved project management, scheduling installation work, as well as assisting staff at a technical level.

The role also involved liaison at senior level with many different companies in many countries, and understanding the business needs of our customers at their location and need.

With an annual budget of $11,000,000+, I had the responsibility not only to use funding wisely, but also to generate revenue from the support activities.

My position was UK based, with responsibility of Project Management, installation, configuration, and support of a growing European network. With nodes in London, Frankfurt, Stockholm and Paris, I was also responsible for support of the US team of switch engineers based in Petaluma California.

I was involved in all switch related products, as well as development of such products.

The European Network is based on Harris 20/20 Voice Frame platforms, of which I was fully trained. I was familiar on a day-to-day basis with networking, and the use of Multiplexing within the network. As well as use of all telecommunications protocols and standards, such as SS7, ISDN, CAS and R2 Signaling.

I ran a small team of telecommunications professionals on a 24-hour basis, and reported to the Executive Director of Engineering, based in Petaluma, California.

Dec 1990 – Jul 1996

I started my career with DTS as a System Support Engineer. Covering the Harris 1200/400, and the Harris 20/20 switches, I progressed within a year to System support Supervisor for the South of England. By the end of 1992 I was promoted to System Support Manager for the UK. This role involved managing on a day-to-day basis the System Support engineers, as well as providing 2nd level technical assistance to the field staff. From 1995-1996, I was utilized by Sales and Marketing to assist in promoting the Harris 20/20, as well as developing applications based on the platform in the ACD and International Reseller market.

After successfully completing the 3 year apprenticeship, and 3 year technical college education I was assigned to the major customer PABX maintenance team.
