Professional Experience

• Optimized the procurement for procurement of over 17,000 different inventory items (steel billet/tubing/carbide from both domestic and international sources, thread protectors, MRO, drill pipe, etc. to support a 250,000 square foot manufacturing plant).

• Directly managed a $22MM inventory and traffic operations with a staff of six in a 15-acre pipe yard. Added responsibility of total plant operations upon the absence of the plant manager.

• Managed Purchasing, Traffic and Fleet Administration, including procurement of goods and services required for three manufacturing plants and five inspection/service facilities.

• Controlled an annual spend of $25MM for protective coatings, steel tubing, drill pipe and carbide. Implemented value analysis savings averaging 7%/year.

• Implementation of several procure-to-pay (P2P) systems.

• Combined inventory from eight areas of the plant to two centralized, secure and restricted areas where cycle counting program could be administered @ 98% accuracy.

• Created and documented a formal cycle counting program to control $16MM inventory at 98% accuracy.

• Managed 8,500 purchase orders per year at $21 MM/year total.

• Initiated and spearheaded a $1.2MM/20,000 square foot/10 person production facility to manufacture 400 different air starter parts to reduce cost of sales by 30% or $1.2 million/year. Successfully reviewed and negotiated cost savings of 8% per year.

• Negotiated and purchased castings, steel, specialized materials, bearings, boxes, shop supplies, cutting tools, inspection equipment, formed out job shop items and MRO items.

• Served as Sales Manager to develop and direct sales staff of 8 including hiring, mentoring and training. Increased customer base 400% to include all 50 states, Canada and Mexico.

• Established a standardized purchasing system used by five project managers, identifying the best trades/vendors in the Houston area and negotiating standard pricing based on economies of scale and market value.
