Production Engineer

Managed all scheduling and operation of batch manufacturing for liquid, pelletized, and powder formulations of consumer health products. Directed staff of 5 supervisors and 18 operators on 2-shift production operation.

• Reorganized the chemical blending operation to coordinate with QC operations, thus eliminating quality defects from carryover, and removing a bottleneck in production output by 16%.

• Scheduled production operations, documented SOPs for line operations, facilitated new installations, updated P&ID’s, and completed IQ/OQ/PQ validations of equipment.

• Responsible for review of procedures and personnel training in safe handling and disposal of new or hazardous materials (e.g., MSDS and PSM documentation).

• Designed and supervised installation of new quality control lab. Trained operators in new quality measurement procedures for chemical components and films using advanced microscopy, FTIR, HPLC, etc. Also established recording/calibration protocols for all instrumentation.

• Developed PI interfaces for product monitoring to link production with test lab results, and established database for optimized production changeovers between products.

• Saved $300,000 annual power and chemical costs through proprietary personal process models that identified inefficiencies in use of recycled materials (solvents, etc.).

• Saved over $100,000 per day in lost production by resolving a critical quality issue during qualification phase of new $120MM lamination line.
