Finance and Treasury Manager (Consultant) (January 2008-present)

Responsible for preparing and analyzing financial reports, financial presentations to management and assisting in the coordination and management of the annual forecast and budget processes.

Create and prepare financial results and statistics presentations to Management. Identify significant trends and financial issues appropriate for reporting to Management. Manage cash flow in multiple currencies and conduct foreign exchange trades. Responsible for revising and authorizing domestic and international wire transfer and letter of credits. Treasury Manager (January-December 2007)

Manage cash flow in multiple currencies – including U.S. dollars, Euros and Dominican pesos – to ensure optimal liquidity for day-to-day bank operations. Review and approve fund disbursement requests from the bank’s branches, and allocate cash. Directly manage and train a staff of 15 people, and establish annual objectives for the department. Conduct negotiations with American Banks (such as Citibank, Wachovia, American Express, Mercantil-Commerce Bank) regarding deposit and foreign exchange currency trades (spot and forwards). Responsible for revising and authorizing domestic and international wire transfer and letter of credits. Manage the bank’s investment securities portfolio. Daily follow-up of all economic data, local as well as international. This financial analysis and forecasting was done in order to prepare the monthly ALCO (Assets and Liability Committee) Selected Contributions:

♦ Instrumental in establishing Treasury Department and instituting processes and procedures to support significant business expansion; department has generated consistent growth in investment income to account for 10% of the bank’s profit, up from a 2% within the past nine months.

Financial Risk Manager (2005 to 2007)

Served in managerial capacity for the Financial Division’s Risk Department. Selected Contributions:

♦ Led the establishment of the Market Risk and Liquidity department based on Basel II in response to government directive subsequent to 2003 financial crisis; department has maintained risk exposure of less than 0.5% of equity, thereby fulfilling government requirements.

♦ Cooperated with management consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers in creating risk procedures manual covering liquidity, market, credit and operational risk, capital adequacy, compliance and contingency plans. With this manual we proceeded to conduct stress tests, perform mark-to-market calculations, model risk factors, run Monte Carlo simulations and explore multiple scenarios.

♦ Acted as Secretary of the board-level Risk Committee, and in the capacity of Treasurer Substitute.

♦ The bank’s loan portfolio all together credit $145 million, were divided $100 in commercial loans and $45 million in personal loans. In order to calculate our risk we used the credit value at risk (cVar).
