PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Chahil Inc. 1998– Present
Officer – Provide interim management, IT, manufacturing, and distribution consulting to small and medium-sized manufacturing companies. Selected projects:
• Business Recovery/OEM Turnaround – (Interim V.P. Operations, 300 non-union employees for more than 2 years) restructured a $50M single-source automotive supplier owned by Cerberus Holdings for Ford Motor Company that had experienced a major explosion that destroyed the manufacturing facility and halted production. Developed a process to streamline operations while operating out of two temporary facilities, and reacquired all lost business. Trained employees, rebuilt all equipment, and assisted with the coordination of a new facility build-out. Implemented Lean manufacturing techniques while instituting a full preventive and predictive maintenance program. Relocated both old and new equipment from temporary manufacturing sites without interruption to OEM supply chain in the new facility. • OEM Back-up Resource Plan – Generated $3.3M in annualized savings by assisting both Ford Motor Company and its European OEM (Pilot Industries) in sourcing and developing more cost-effective manufacturing resources in Spain, Germany, and the Czech Republic. Formulated a resource plan complete with projected inventory requirements to ensure availability for plastics forming, stamping, machining, and welding operations. Simultaneously identified and remediated procurement, staffing, and equipment bottlenecks. Worked with sub-suppliers to prepare for dual sourcing and ensured cost-effective processes were implemented.
• OEM Turnaround – (Interim General Manager of Mexican Operations, 250 non-union employees for 6 months) Transformed and lead the effort with Ford Motor Company to sell the assets of Exemplar Inc., a Mexican wire harness manufacturer into a leading Tier I supplier. Conducted thorough review of operations and built a team that stabilized operations by expediting raw material into the facility, improving scheduling, consolidating and reducing waste, and increasing sales. • Consolidation/Restructuring (Creditor-Mandated) – Per Comerica Bank, evaluated all practices of major supplier to Waste Management. Visited all locations and determined best practices. Reviewed logistics and supply streams to minimize shipping costs. Developed and executed strategic plan to consolidate less-efficient plants with other locations, without increasing the cost of the delivered product. Effectively consolidated accounting, payroll, and purchasing, achieving better control and improved management reporting. Reduced operating costs by greater than $2M and generated additional 5% margin in profits while maintaining the same manufacturing capacities.
