Senior Electronics Engineer

Lead developer of all hardware and fryer control systems for the world’s leading commercial fryer manufacturer, Frymaster. Frymaster is also the most profitable Food Service OEM in the world. New product design including: switching power supplies, high wattage heater controllers, complex analog signal conditioning for RTD’s and thermistors, microcontroller hardware design and PCB layout (Microchip 18F, 24HJ, 32F series of microcontrollers). Design schematics, PCBs and all control documentation for in-house assembly and external contract manufacturing. Support production in all areas necessary including procurement or approving of alternate manufacturers on allocated or long lead time components, redesigning PCBs due to discontinued components, updating technologies, or reducing cost.

Accomplishments:

• Led dozens of efforts which have saved Frymaster millions of dollars. Led efforts to convert outdated through hole designs to state-of-the-art surface mount technologies.

• Designed and developed new controls and systems for restaurant chains such as: McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, Popeyes, and many other chain stores. Augmented all designs for acceptance in the European Community (CE), Australia, New Zealand, Asia, and South America.

• Created documentation processes and standards for all of Frymaster’s electronic components and assemblies. Automated interfaces for connecting Altium schematic/pcb designs with the company’s AS400 (ISO 9000 Compliant) system.

• Designed a CAN communication network of up to 13 controllers to automate all filter and top off controls of commercial fryers.

• Developed proprietary hardware to double the life of cooking oil, while reducing the amount of cooking oil required by a restaurant by over 50%. The design is now offered worldwide.

• Designed CAN to ZigBee interface boards.
