2 years at Caterpillar India Pvt Ltd – Machines Division (manufacturing of Off Highway Trucks and Backhoe Loaders) with the following roles.

Manufacturing Engineer-1 (2008 – 2010)

6 Sigma Green Belt (2009 – 2010)

• Design Engineer (Design of tools, tackles, auxiliary equipment for process improvement and material movement) and Process Engineer for the assembly of the Off Highway Truck 773/D responsible for complete assembly process (Standard Work implementation, Timestudy and work study, Workstation Layout) in one of the stages of the main assembly line.

• Designed the process and facility layout for Assembly Test and Paint operations as a part of New Capital Introduction to Assemble Off-Highway trucks using Systematic Layout Planning method. Completed as many as 24 different layout options for the company, optimized for cost and time.

• Engineer in charge of Preventive Maintenance (periodic checking and inspection of equipment) and deploying Total Productive Maintenance across the facility improving MTBF for machines across the facility.

1 year and 8 months at Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville, Tennessee (Aug 2010 – Present) assuming the following roles apart from research and publishing papers.

• Graduate Assistant (Lab Teaching Assistant) to teach Pro/Engineer Wildfire 4.0 for the Applied machine Design course to the undergraduate seniors in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville, Tennessee.

• Design experience in building mechanisms, mechanism models, prototypes, etc. for research purposes at Tennessee Technological University, Cookeville, Tennessee. Also responsible as a consultant for the undergraduate students in the Mechanical Engineering department at Tennessee Technological University, to assist them with their EIME (Early Inventions in Mechanical Engineering) projects.

PROJECTS AND PUBLICATIONS

• 6 Sigma Power Saving Project at Caterpillar India Pvt Ltd., Machines Division – responsible for implementing innovative and fiscal benefits through improvements to save cost spent on power across the facility – Credentials: Earned savings of more than $100,000 for the company thereby getting certified as a 6 Sigma Greenbelt.

• MODELING AND DESIGN OF A LINKAGE-BASED SUSPENSION FOR TRACKED-TYPE CLIMBING MOBILE ROBOTIC SYSTEMS – First author, presented and published at the International Design Engineering Technical Conference 2011 at Washington DC

• Structural Optimization of an Axial Gas Turbine Rotor Blade (Turbine Blade design) of the LCGT (Low Cost Gas Turbine) of TurboTech Precision Engineering Pvt Ltd., Bangalore.

• Designed and manufactured an educational toy to demonstrate the properties of light at IIT-Bombay.

• Designed and manufactured a Human operated hydraulic arm in ‘Gear loose’ competition at ‘Techkriti Oh Seven’ held at IIT-Kanpur.

• Design and fabrication of a Domestic Windmill to generate 300W output for installation and usage on terrace tops

HONORS/ ACTIVITIES

• Was awarded the Best Student for Co-curricular activities in the 1st YEAR of Engineering at Kongu Engineering College, Erode, India.

• Have been the Student coordinator for FM radio of the College which was a community radio station for the locality of Perundurai, Erode, India.
