SQL Master’s Program

The SetFocus SQL Server Master’s Program is an intensive, hands–on, project oriented

program where participants gain knowledge and valuable experience putting the SQL Server

skill set to use in a simulated work environment.

Created numerous simple to complex queries involving self joins, correlated

subqueries, CTE’s and XML techniques for diverse business requirements. Tuned and

optimized queries by altering database design, analyzing different query options, and

indexing strategies.

As part of a team, analyzed the business requirements and systematically designed a

database for an online-movie (DVD/Blu- Ray) rental company. Employed best

practices in creating a complete schema including tables, relationships, stored

procedures, views, clustered and non-clustered indexes and triggers, and

implemented the import and export of data using XML and SSIS.

As part of a team, created various reports according to the business requirements for

the movie rental company. Individually authored, installed, deployed and managed

reports using SSRS for a library database.

Individually designed a bank application according to business requirements, and

implemented robust stored procedures, functions, and triggers to implement

required functionalities.

Created an ETL solution that reads Product, Vendor, and Order data from .CSV files

on a network share into a SQL Server database. The solution also validated

incoming data and performed notifications when jobs complete. The order data thus

loaded into SQL Server was used to generate reports using the new SSRS 2008

reporting functionality (including the Tablix control). The reports were set up for

automatic delivery based on standard report subscriptions.

Access with the below left join query and exported to another MS Excel file pre formated

according to the specs of the new data clearing house. (I have a copy of the query I

created to get the columns needed for the data cleaning and transfer).

o Transitioned existing data sources to data warehouse (1SYNC), analyzed product

fields for accuracy, forwarded correction requests, and verified record error clearing

through queries.

from BEST to 1SYNC.

o Generated Excel reports to reference previous action taken on current data feeds.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT 1989 – 2002

(CITY OF LOS ANGELES PUBLIC LIBRARY) Los Angeles, CA

Accomplishment

Created a database for the LAPL Childrens Summer Reading Program.

I translated a hard copy form provided by the Childrens’ librarian into an Access

table that tallied the number of books each child read for the summer. I created a

table for the juvenile borrowers who participated. Then created a table to support

the form that collected the borrower name and id, the book read, and the date they

checked it out (i.e BorrowerID, BookTitle, TransDate). A simple select count() query

was used to tally how many books were listed per child. This generated a number

that could be used in comparison with another child’s reading activity. I also used

the select count() query to create a user-friendly comparison report. Then two

buttons were created via macros. One button merged borrower contact and lending

history with a congratulatory letter & award certificate created in MS Word. The

second button was placed in the d/e form to preview a tabular report of a borrower’s

lending history. The Children's librarian was properly prepared to present each letter

& award per student per school.
