Recruited to organization to implement and manage ISO9001 and ISO13484 quality system activities for the manufacturing of medical surgical instruments, implants and aerospace components. My responsibilities include corrective and preventive actions, audits, risk assessments, process validations, contract reviews, resolve issues that may impact customer production launches. Reduced rework and scrap by 40% after implementing process metrics-to benchmark and make changes where needed to ensure continuous process improvements.

Invensys 2002 – 2004, Quality Assurance Supervisor, Nuclear

Perform complex analysis and evaluations of supplier processes so that I could implement cost effective processes based of new complex nuclear regulatory quality system requirements. I worked closely with over twenty suppliers by providing resources to either help them develop and implement a complete quality system and in some cases just implement enhancements to their current quality systems. All twenty vendors successfully passed a 3rd party nuclear audit with in one year.

Nearfield Systems Incorporated 1996- 2001, Quality Manager, Military, Telecommunications

Initially tasked with attaining ISO certification which included the development, implementation and maintenance of company quality program, manuals, and procedures. Role later expanded to include streamlining operations as part of a cost containment initiative, major continuous improvements projects, process automation and implementation of a paperless system. Reduced overall product cost by 30% after implementing Lean Manufacturing and Kaisan principles.

Boeing (formerly Rockwell) 1992 – 1996, Corporate Quality Engineering, Aerospace, Military

Served on global quality tiger team to review, evaluate, make recommendations and implement a standard cost-effective process methodology for seven facilities while maintaining regulatory and divisional requirements. These requirements included, Software Engineering Institute (SEI), Capability Maturity Model (CMM), ISO9000, AS9100, FAR21, DoD-STD-2167A, DoD-STD-2168, and best Commercial practices. Our challenge was to have our team submit our recommendations within six months, received approval on 80% of our recommendations and all processes fully implemented within two years. Activities included documenting / evaluating processes, interviewing personnel, performing time studies, reviewing plant layouts and more. We were able to reduce over two hundred processes into only forty processes which were fully implemented within all seven facilities three months early than planned and reducing overall operating costs by 55%.

Rockwell 1988 – 1992, Senior Quality Supplier Engineer and Program Manager, Aerospace, Military

Responsible for overseeing the NASA Shuttle Logistics Repair Depot, a new initiative enabling NASA to perform shuttle repairs at Kennedy Space Center. Activities included relocating and training employees and astronauts, working with original equipment manufacturers and developing Kennedy Space Center standardizing repair procedures & verification checklist. Acquired proprietary processes valued at $1.5 million and successfully translated them to Kennedy Space Center standard repair procedures. This assignment allowed me to gain deep understanding of highly complex NASA issues, from single point failures and failure mode effects analysis from component level to system level.

Odetics 1979 – 1988, Senior Quality Engineering, Aerospace and Medical

Odetics was a contract manufacturing organization for medical instrumentation displays and flight data recorders for NASA. Duties included: initiating and enforcing corrective actions, material reviews, change control boards, surveys, audits, and proposal activities. R&D projects included lasers, robotics, hybrids, fiber optics, and manufacturing automation. Served as integral team member in the development of a process to retrieve and salvage flight data recorder after the Space Shuttle Challenger catastrophe.

Babcock 1977 – 1979, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace and Medical

Recruited to organization to perform quality and manufacturing engineering activities for their Hi-Rel Electronic, electro-mechanical, displays fabrication and assemblies used in the medical industry. This included manufacturing automation, printed wiring boards (PWB) design, surface mount technologies, and inspection methods. Reduced overall product cost by 60% after implementing automated assembly and test stations, conveyor belts, implemented state-of-the-art technologies.

Cincinnati Milacron 1975 – 1977, Machinist and Lead Inspector

Machinist operating numerical control machines (e.g., CNCs, lathes, grinders and drill presses). Duties included worked in the tool room setting up the tools, performing time studies and performing mechanical inspection. Gained experience in the plastics industry and strong understanding of metal properties.
