Freelance Editor, Writer and Marketing/PR Professional

• Queried, planned, researched and edited and completed more than 400 articles for publications including The Charlotte Business Journal, Charlotte Observer, Creative Loafing, Today’s Charlotte Woman, The Huntersville Herald, The Mountain Island Monitor, Charlotte Parent and Blue Ridge Outdoors.

• Served, along with partner Leslie Shiel, as Public Relations liaison for the city of Mount Holly, North Carolina 2006-2009. Produced press releases, newsletters, and ghost written articles for The Belmont Banner. Organized press conferences and handled all press calls for city during local murder investigation covered on a national level.

• Conceived, researched, wrote and edited copy for two non-fiction home design books for Carolina Design Group: The Cape Collection and The French Country Design Collection.

• Researched, wrote and edited program, in conjunction with Leslie Shiel’s editorial and design work, for the Mount Holly Sports Hall of Fame annually since 2007.

• Served as an associate editor for the Queens Writers Group short story collections Inheriting Scotland and Tales for a Long Winter’s Night as well as H.D. Kirkpatrick’s Alienation of Affection and Trafficking Death. Contributed short stories to both short story collections.

• Managed billing, accounts payable and collections for H&S Media.

• Sold two romance e-books, The Wolves of Shadow Mountain as Gabrielle St Croix to Liquid Silver Books in 2006 and The Phantom to New Concepts Publishing in 2008.

• Taught continuing education courses in creative writing at Queens University of Charlotte for two semesters.

• Responsible for the negotiation and tracking of delinquent and disputed commercial, freight and rail bills in amounts ranging from $100 to $500,000. Trained and supervised collectors. Exceeded collections goals on consistent basis. Over the course of three years, averaged 115% of goals. Became IACC Certified Commercial Collector in 1998.
