SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS & SKILLS

 Orchestrated turnaround of automotive aftermarket retail & service division. Promoted to serve as Division Vice President for Paccar Automotive. Led a struggling division of 80 retail, service and commercial stores in union environment, to record sales and profits with a 15% comparable increase in sales and a 23% increase in profits in the first year.

 Regional Director and Zone Vice President for Hollywood Entertainment (2002-2009) led teams that initially

were “average” in performance and transformed them into company best performers in all key performance indicators through rebuilding teams, implementing best practices and creating a very positive high energy strong “sense of urgency” environment. Number one ranked region in 2005 and 2006; number one ranked zone in 2007 and 2008; As Regional Director led highest revenue (150MM) and profit region with 150 Hollywood and Game Crazy units with 11 district managers and over 1300 store associates. As Zone Vice President led highest revenue (750MM) and profit zone in 2007 and 2008 with over 1000 stores, 8 regional directors, 70 district managers and over 10,000 store associates.

 As Regional Director and Zone Vice President for Hollywood Entertainment developed a customer service and sales training program that resulted in a 35% improvement in the region’s average ticket comps in the first year with consistent improvements (above company average), in subsequent years at the region and zone level. Implemented a Reward and Recognition program as well as a highly effective Talent Selection and Development program that combined help to result in a 40% reduction in associate turnover over the first year; while consistently maintaining the company’s strongest retention rate over a subsequent five year period at both the region and zone levels. Consistently posted the company’s strongest profit results through effective P&L management, especially in the areas of labor, expense and shrink control.

 Led company’s strongest performing team through bankruptcy and subsequent restructuring through three ownership changes (in three years) while maintaining the lowest associate turnover at all levels and the strongest top and bottom line financial performance.

Regional Director, Hollywood Entertainment (Hollywood Video/Game Crazy), 2002-2009

Vice President of Retail, Tully’s Coffee Corp., 2001-2002

 Responsible for operations and bottom-line profit of 113 coffee retail stores in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and California. Reported to the president and chief operating officer. Supervised 2 regional managers, 8 district managers, 2 training managers and responsible for over 800 store employees.

 In 6 months initiated sales and profit turnaround through restructuring of retail leadership team, implementation of performance standards, reward and recognition program and succession planning.

Vice President of Stores, CarToys Inc., 2000-2001

 Responsible for operations and bottom-line profit of forty two retail audio and wireless mobile electronics stores in Washington, Oregon, Colorado and Texas. Reported to the COO. Supervised 5 regional managers, a recruiter, a customer service manager, an insurance manager, and responsible for over 800 store employees. Responsible for annual revenue of over $155MM.

 In less than a year opened 12 new stores, including 9 in new markets; instrumental in developing growth business plan to include marketing and operations strategies.

Division Vice President, Paccar Automotive Inc., 1997-1999

 Responsible for operations and bottom-line profit of eighty retail, commercial and service Grand Auto Supply stores in Northern California, Nevada and Oregon. Reported to the company’s General Manager, supervised 6 district managers, 4 commercial territory managers, 3 training managers, one service director, one recruiter and one financial analyst.

 In first full year in position took division to record profits including over $144MM in sales (increase of 15%), $17MM in net contribution (improvement of 23%); reduced total store expenses by over $300K.

Director of Training & Development, Paccar Automotive Inc., 1995-1997

 Responsible for developing, implementing and maintenance of associate sales, product knowledge, service and management training programs for over 2500 store, distribution center and corporate employees for one of the country’s largest automotive aftermarket retailers. Reported to the general manager, supervised 2 retail training managers, 2 service training managers and a talent recruiter.

 Developed new associate orientation program, 4 sales training programs, 3 technical service programs and 4 management development programs.

 Developed a management assessment center program; designed and implemented a store planning and organization process and a standard communication center for all Paccar stores.
