Designed, specified and procured, six large (6500 hp) gas turbine powered centrifugal compressors for a natural gas liquefaction plant. Made daily decisions concerning the design, construction and testing of these machines under my responsibility.
* Wrote all specifications and design documents for these compressors.
* Developed the specifications for the design and procurement of two (2) 3400 hp CO2 compressors as well as 14 other various pumps
* Served on the worldwide committee to rewrite API standard 612.

Mechanical Design and Machinery Specification for a Large Offshore Platform
Designed, procured, and worked on the construction of three rotary 3,500 hp Vapor Recovery compressors for the BP Thunder Horse offshore platform. Served as the engineering liaison for the construction of these compressors at the vendors shop. Made daily fabrication decisions concerning the construction.
* Wrote specifications for all of the coating and paint requirements for the project, including equipment, areas below the waterline and at the waterline itself.
* Wrote specifications for and designed two (2) 1500 hp centrifugal natural gas booster pumps as well as thirty four (34) auxiliary gas compressors pumps
* Designed pressure vessels for offshore storage vessel using COMPRESS

Construction of a Grass Roots Chemical Plant
Client technical representative during design and construction of a $42 million “grass roots” chemical additive production plant. Involved in all aspects of the design and construction of all plant equipment.
* Owner’s resident representative during all stages of design and construction.
* Mechanically sized and thermally rated all 28 heat exchangers in the plant design. Used HTRI software for thermal rating and BJAC software for mechanical design. Designed in compliance with TEMA as well as API 660 and 661 standards. Also modeled the plant using Auto Plant to determine optimal design.
* Principal equipment in the plant involved 700 hp blowers; 500 hp and above pumps, compressors and pneumatic conveying and air and gas compression, among others.
HCS GROUP, INC., HOUSTON, TEXAS June 1995 –April 2001
Feasibility, Design and Construction of Cogeneration Plants 1998 – 2001
Designed and specified four Solar Taurus gas turbines, serving as electrical generators for an “in-plant” combined cycle electrical generation project.
* Developing initial economic studies, cost estimates and specifications for the electric cogeneration project. Performed all piping stress analysis.
* Designed major equipment, including four 5.8 megawatt gas turbines, their corresponding HRSGs plus the steam turbines and electrical generators. Performed piping stress analysis to API B31.3 and 31.4.
Mechanical Design and Coordination of Grass Roots Chemical Plant 1998
Managed design and construction of an $81 million sulfur to liquid fertilizer plant. Designed and specified the rotating equipment, pressure vessels and tanks for this project during engineering phase. Then relocated to the construction site to manage the construction effort.
* Also responsible for the design of the refractory lined and fired kiln, and the 16 ft. diameter 8000F reactor used in the plant.
* Drafted field installation procedures for the equipment and their corresponding job site installation sequence.
* Designed the 1,100 hp reciprocating compressor used in the plant.
Plant Mechanical Engineer 1997 – 1998
Managed 12 in-plant projects totaling $5.8 million in value over a five month period in an operating chemical plant. Contracted with & managed outside engineering and construction contractors performing projects in the plant including expansions, addition of pollution prevention equipment, modification of the process wastewater plant and updating and replacing existing heat exchanger and rotating equipment. Also performed pipe stress analysis and finite element analysis on the vessels installed as a part of these projects.
* Served on the design team to design and specify the equipment installed in these projects.
* Developed management approved budgets for all of the projects, particularly for the outside contracts.
* Familiar with ASME, ANSI and TEMA codes.
Caspian Sea Pipeline 1997
Part of a design team designing compressor stations, river crossings, a tank farm and a three-point offshore loading facility for a 1,300 mile crude oil pipeline and marine terminal project located on the Caspian Sea in Russia. Worked as a part of a multi-national group of engineers and designers in several locations, including Russia.
* Designed and specified all pumps and generators for the terminal, all powered by crude oil.
* Also performed pipe stress and finite element analysis.
Indonesian LNG Plant 1996 – 1997
Designed all pressure vessels and tanks for a $305 million expansion of a 6 billion cubic foot LNG plant in Indonesia.
* Included spherical holding tanks for the onshore portion of the facility; 72 feet in diameter and 1300 psig design pressure.
* Cryogenic tanks rated for –1750F and 700 psig and five (5) 2150 hp reciprocating compressors I was also responsible for rating heat exchangers and finite element analysis.
* The plant was designed and built as a modularized design.

Mechanical Engineer 1993 – 1995
Refinery Retrofit 1995
Participated in a team to retrofit refineries in Tulsa and Puerto Rico from full service refineries to lubricants only facilities. Effort included rebuilding the crude unit, the paraffin unit and the tank farm. Remainder of plant was either idled or demolished.
* Responsible for design, specification and purchasing of new atmospheric crude tower, distillation unit, 300 hp crude transfer pumps and a 550 hp centrifugal compressor.
* Equipment no longer used was removed or demolished in accordance with a plan I developed.
Cooling Water Treatment System in Ethylene Plant 1991 - 1993
Designed a revamped cooling water system for an existing ethylene plant to make it environmentally compliant. Major equipment included steam scrubbers, diesel and electric pumps and several large packaged filtration units.
* Responsible for designing and specifying steam scrubber for removing hydrocarbons from wastewater.
* Worked with the vendor in designing first of a kind multiple stage filtration unit for removing several grades and weights of hydrocarbons from wastewater.
* Also specified a multi-stage pump to circulate wastewater within the re-designed system
Incineration Engineer 1988 - 1991
Worked in a team of 9 engineers responsible for designing material handling and storage equipment for the waste storage and feed portion of a hazardous waste incineration project.
* Design elements included hazardous waste storage tanks and extensive material handling equipment for hazardous and toxic materials.
* All designs were performed to rigorous and extensive EPA specifications and requirements
MTBE Expansion 1988 - 1991
Designed and specified pressure vessels and pumps for an MTBE unit addition within an existing chemical plant. Managed a group of 9 engineers responsible for designing all of the equipment for this expansion.

Operation and Maintenance of Resource Recovery Plants
Responsible for construction, and developing operating and maintenance contracts for 2 resource recovery plants converting trash to energy. Managed on site construction of one incineration plant operated by the company. Also administered engineering and maintenance contracts for 12 other wastewater treatment and solid waste plants operated by the company.
* Responsible for design and de-bottlenecking of the equipment in the resource recovery plants.

Assistant chief of 35 mechanical engineers and 3 designers with an engineering budget of $5 million. Coordinated mechanical engineering effort for a $65 million segment of a $2 billion crude oil processing project on the North Slope of Alaska. Major equipment were gas turbines, pumps, compressors, crude heaters and crude separators. Entire project was modularized for transportation and installation in Alaska.
