DBA Manager Job Description
Job Summary
Develops and maintains corporate databases and other related network infrastructure. Over see’s and manages the work and daily function of reports.
Essential Functions (others may be assigned)
•SQL Server Functions include:
o Installation, set up and upgrades to SQL Server and Reporting Services
o Performance monitoring and enhancements including index analysis
o Development and review of stored procedures
o Security design and security role implementation
o Log shipping and table replication
o Storage hardware
o Disaster recovery planning and testing
o Migration and maintenance on database
o Database revision control
•Performs routine database administration work
•Maintain internal procedures and prioritize staff work load
•Coordinate and conduct employee reviews
•Produce feedback and necessary reports communicating employee interactions as needed
•Create and disseminate team goals
•Assist in disciplinary procedures as needed
•Actively lead and participate in team meetings and 1 on 1 communications
•Maintain open and constructive communication with coworkers and reports
•Performs code and design reviews with the Software Development and Business Analysis Teams
•Provides assistance in the development, maintenance, and monitoring of database systems
•Adhere to company policies as defined
•Accept and complete assignment with open, cooperative, positive, and team oriented attitudes
•Actively participate in team meetings and 1 on 1 communications
•Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of applicable products and services as they evolve
•Increase knowledge through internal resources, supervisors, fellow employee’s, company trainings, and trade publications
Qualifications
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential functions satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or ability needed or desired.
Education and Experience
Bachelors Degree in computer science or related field preferred. At least 3-5 years experience with the above required and management experience preferred.
Required Knowledge
Excellent skill in SQL Server databases including set up, performance enhancement, stored procedure development, storage hardware, migration and maintenance is desired. Excellent ability to lead technical projects and excellent problem solving skills are required. Proficiency with the entire MS Office Suite.
