2006 - 2007 Creative Director, Eclipse Marketing Services, Inc. April 2006 to September 2007
Wrote and designed all creative print collateral and websites for Eclipse Marketing Services, an Advertising Agency representing the cable industry. Managed a staff of 7 Art Directors/designers and 2 copy writers to produce cost-effective targeted campaigns for Time Warner, Charter, Cox and Comcast to name a few, resulting in effective retention and buy rates. 2003 - 2006 Marketing Director, Thorlabs, Inc. July 2003 to April 2006
Managed advertising, print purchasing, print and web graphic design, tradeshows and direct mail promotions, including a 1050 page Photonics Tools catalogue produced each year and distributed worldwide.
Improved in-house photography quality by setting up a photo studio with updated lighting equipment and teaching color correction to the designers resulting in improved photography of products.
Expanded the company from .6 million in weekly receipts to over 1.2 million, doubling revenues in just under three years by ramping up advertising and email promotions and increasing direct mail along with creating a more "user-friendly" visual navigation website. (See www.thorlabs.com).

Managed and designed complex workflows integrating the Quark Publishing System (QPS) to enhance productivity. Wenner Media's "Us Weekly" hired me to take them from a monthly to a weekly publication, hiring staff and upgrading QPS.

Project managed a large team who architected a relational database for a legal publisher expert witness search site; managed a budget of 1.2 million dollars to complete the project and kept the project on budget.
My team wrote programs to import data from disparate sources, designed an interactive website using java server pages and wrote a print product that would allow our customer to compile directories with listings and indices on-the-fly from the database.
Developed a tool for Consumer's Union that allows Editors and Researchers to query an Oracle database, organize data and preview the resulting tables in a web browser through a Java Servlet.
Productized and managed the development team for a portal building product called "Portal SPINNER" which cuts JSP development in half.
1991 - 1996 Senior Consultant, Publication Directions June 1991 to July 1996
Acted as Managing Editor for Publica Magazine the main marketing tool for the company resulting in
increased sales.
Managed creation of new educational materials and course curriculums for technical and graphic courses and seminars. Consulted with major publishers and advertisers to help them incorporate technology into the publishing business. Recent clients include; Xerox Corporation - Color Solutions for Business Users course being resold in nationwide training centers.
Project management for Coopers and Lybrand PC integration nationwide. QPS integrations include Time Life, Family Circle and American Homestyle magazines, New York magazine and several CMP publications.
Planned and supported a 60 seat Macintosh installation and Novell network for Toys"R"Us successfully training all staff and resulting in enhanced productivity.

Evaluated publishing hardware/software and recommended configuration to NAFG resulting in the formation of a production electronic publishing unit that I managed. Established standards for marketing presentations to corporate customers and conceived and designed all marketing resource materials for the bank.
