Lead research and development team to design and develop devices that interfaced Sony home audio and visual equipment with databases across the Internet using both personal computers and televisions as the human interfaces, implementing standards such as HTTP and other Internet protocols

Partnered with Sony Electronics marketing groups: systems were designed for simplicity and ease of use; systems also gathered valuable user interactions. Developed and designed high performance user friendly interfaces, communication systems, and low level embedded software including device drivers.

Worked with Sony Music and Pictures to ensure new consumer electronics products, such as PlayStation, met standards that protected intellectual property rights

Project Manager 1994 – 1995

Managed the design and development of an application specific WWW based, interactive set-top box, utilizing standard Internet protocols: TCP/IP, HTML, HTTP, FTP and PPP. The set-top box provided the consumer an easy to use display, which appeared on their television and connected them with information stored in an Oracle database.

Managed four onsite software engineers and two hardware engineers, using Sony’s PlayStation MIPS R3000 embedded platform.

Senior Software Engineer 1992 – 1994

Developed a cell phone base station to exercise protocols established by Cellular Telephone Industry Association's (CTIA) TR 45.5 Committee for the development of CDMA digital cellular telephones.

Software was developed on an embedded PC platform using real-time operating systems, developed in C and C++

Acted as a liaison between cellular industry standards committees in the USA and research groups in Sony's Tokyo offices to develop CDMA digital cellular terminals

AT&T Paradyne Data Systems Development Group: Designed and developed firmware for an Intel 8051 based Shared Diagnostic Control Panel for rack mounted Paradyne analog modems

Government Communications Group: Developed an X.25 link level firmware package, including device drivers, file managers and timers on a Motorola 68000 based system using a real-time operating system

Digital Signal Processing Group: Completely designed and developed all firmware for the AT&T USEC Echo Canceller consisting of two single board computers which monitored and controlled real-time performance of digital line interface and echo canceller cards

Remote Facility Alarm Monitoring Group: developed new code and optimized existing code to allow an increase in capacity of AT&T remote building and facility alarm monitoring system
