PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Lunsford & Lunsford Farms, Inc.

Farm Manager – 11 years

• Managed operations of 1,500 +/- acres of row crops in two Southwest Georgia counties.

• Planned daily activities including fertilization, planting, herbicide and insecticide applications, cultivation, irrigation scheduling and harvesting.

• Performed yearly planning of crop varieties, crop rotation, budget planning, and employee selection.

• Maintained stocks and inventories of hardware, fuel and oil, fertilizer, seed and chemicals.

• Kept records of all farm activities from general ledger functions to spray schedules and payroll.

• Serviced all equipment and performed seasonal and daily repairs and maintenance.

• One of the first farmers in our area to develop strip-till farming practices and implement minimum till planting and production.

AGRICULTURAL SKILLS

• Seed selection and planning – each year I took time to research the varieties that were available for the upcoming growing year. This involved attending classes and meeting with our County Extension Agent to be as thorough as possible when selecting our top yielding varieties.

• Fabricating equipment – we built our first strip-till rig that was used to lay off crop rows from several different implements. We also built and patented a drag for switch plows.

• Repairing equipment each year – during the winter months, we took time to rebuild and repair implements for the next season.

• Performed soil sampling and field mapping each year to become as efficient as possible when applying nutrients and fertilizer.

• Scouted all crops to determine progression of the crop as well as the presence of any insect and/or weed pests.

• Intensely monitored weather patterns and predictions to maximize center pivot irrigation returns based on scheduling.

• Proficient in Arc Welding with stick welders, wire welders, brazing and use of acetylene torches.
