SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Upgraded network performance. Bay County was using limited performance peer-to-peer architecture with over 150 network nodes. Led network configuration into client / server structure and expanded Active Directory. Documented network with MS Visio. Improved security, user control, and ease of maintenance and data updates.
Expanded broadband access. Connectivity from seven outlying Bay County library branches was intermittent and slow. Improved system speed, data security and connection reliability by establishing an encrypted virtual private network (VPN). Added further security with a terminal services server to connect to the applications server.
Improved ease of data access. Older Bay County library lacked computer use policies. Established guidelines defining levels of service to be provided, and how patrons could interact with the network. Eliminated user problems with requested data access. Additionally, implemented policies covering data entry in library automation software.
Designed network infrastructure. Collaborated with Bay County’s new main library architect to integrate network infrastructure into building plans. Installed two discrete networks for public and staff use to meet anticipated and growing demands on capability of system with 64% more terminals. Designed in Wi-Fi and VoIP connectivity.
Automated dispatch system. Springfield Police Department’s manual dispatch system could not meet expanding accuracy, data volume and speed requirements. Installed computer-aided system enabling dispatchers to log calls to a database and transmit files electronically. Standardized data entry and eliminated loss of irreplaceable files.
Strengthened equipment readiness status tracking. Identified technological means to improve US Air Force unit’s readiness capability. Established automated tracking database and system that quickly and accurately reported location and maintenance status of $7.1M in assets critical to potential short notice overseas deployments.
