During my tenure as Fire Officer one of the many responsibilities was to ensure proper, adequate training under the new current standards and of NFPA 1001, and of the California State Fire Marshal’s Office. Through my commitment to ensure that proper safety for firefighters, and the education needed to handle stress during a critical time, with the implied authority given to each Fire Chief to have the ability to sign-off on all 100-200 series course under the State Mandates of Firefighter training, I was able to supervise and conduct in-house, along with neighboring departments where all new and existing firefighters would obtain their firefighter 1 thru Ca. State Fire Marshal’s Office, training under the above course structure, in the techniques of Fire tactics and strategy, fire suppression, ladders, rescue systems 1, vehicle extrication, hazardous material response, EMS care and transport, ICS, Wild land Fire suppression and response, aircraft rescue response, etc.. I performed these functions as training officer for both Isleton and Rio Vista as part of my job description and duties assigned, for a period of (9) nine years. Assistant instructor for off-site resident (college) firefighter program for all risk emergency situations and calls for service including firefighter 1, firefighter 2, confined space, hazardous material response, ARRF crash and rescue, vehicle extrication, confined space, wild land fire response in the I-Zone, rescue systems 1, etc.
In January of 2010, I assumed the responsibility as the Public Works Director. Responsibilities’ included but not limited to supervision of personnel to conduct street maintenance, waste water treatment plant operation, storm and sewer line debris removal, replacement Any and all certifications will be provided upon request.
