PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

CDM + Wilbur Smith – Maitland, FL, Boston, MA & Raleigh, NC (Feb. 2000 to Aug. 2011)

Environmental Consulting, Engineering, Construction and Operation Firm

Engineer – Design engineer for electrical distribution and control systems for water and wastewater treatment plants. Including, RO and NF membrane water treatment plants, Ozone Treatment, Ultraviolet treatment, Chemical systems (i.e., Sodium Hypochlorite, etc), and water collection and distribution systems. Electrical distribution systems designs include specifications for low and medium voltage equipment ranging from switchgear, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, stand-by generators, outdoor & indoor lighting systems, distribution panels, CCTV, Fire Alarm and PA systems. Control systems included electrical specifications and support for the implementation of supervisory control (SCADA), instrumentation, radio and telephone telemetry/communication. Project’s costs ranged from $2M to $50M dollars in design and construction service fees.

• Electrical engineering activities included preparation of specifications for water/wastewater low and medium voltage electrical distribution equipment, including switchgear, switchboards, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, pre-fabricated power houses, transformers, etc.

• Evaluation and approval of engineering shop drawings for conformance to project specifications, customer requirements and applicable industry codes and standards. Conducted value engineering analysis and review of vendor proposals/quotations during design, construction and start-up/implementation activities.

• Performed startup and functional/operational evaluation of electrical and mechanical systems during final acceptance and commissioning of facilities and equipment. Provided assistance to on-site construction personnel and completed equipment performance characteristic evaluations. Implemented design changes and recommendations through RFI, designer’s clarifications and other evaluations and interpretations of complex specification and contractual issues.

• Conducted project coordination with other disciplines during design and prepared electrical schematics (CAD drawings) for the preliminary and final design of electrical power and control system for pump stations, water and wastewater treatment plants, and other diverse environmental facilities.

• Evaluated existing plants to determine scope of work for improvements and upgrades. Prepared preliminary and final design reports. Provided design and final design bid cost estimates.

• Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA, OSHA, local and state building and code regulations in the construction of new and existing facilities related to public and private sector projects including government and municipal clientele.

• Electrical engineering project experience includes planning, budget submissions and detailed cost estimation, preparation of specifications and design drawings for construction, project management and engineering support during construction and maintenance activities. Conducted mentoring and training of new engineers.

• Coordination of construction activities, critical tasks and milestones, procurement and administration of subcontracts and equipment, cost control and budgeting, and submittals coordination.

• AutoCAD 2008, Bentley Microstation and ProjectWise (document control), Visual Studio (lighting layout) and others.

• Energy Audits and Electrical Assessments to reduce cost for several municipal clients.
