OBJECTIVE

To obtain a position as a family nurse practitioner in a facility that will help me grow and improve in my skills. Also be in an environment that will give me the opportunity to advance in my career as a nurse practitioner. Student Nurse Extern, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. University of Illinois in Chicago, Chicago, IL.

Assist with total care of patients recovering from heart surgery, tonsillectomy, liver and bowel transplant on children. Assisting nurses with setting up area for post operative patient. Assisting doctors with biopsy procedure making sure the right amount of medication are given to children using their height and weight. Reporting abnormal lab values to nurse. Helping patient with ADL and also administering medication with the supervision of a registered nurse. (May 2005 – August 2005)

Job duties included head to toe assessment on children from infant through adolescent that were on ventilator or that had G button, or that were IV antibiotic. Administering medication which includes breathing treatment. Calling MD when there is a change in the patient condition, sending out patient to the hospital when condition deteriorates. Teaching family members and the patient about the disease process. ( July 2011 to present )

Supervising one hundred and twenty bed facility, including patient nurses, replacing call out, pronouncing death, in charge of codes, calling MD/ NP when there is a change in patient condition, sending patient out that are in critical condition to the hospital after assessing them.
