Thyssenkrupp Steel HSM Team Mechanical Maintenance Manager – Dec 2009 to Present

Started with this multi-billion dollar state of the art Steel Production Facility during the construction phase to ensure a Safe, Timely, and Efficient erection process, as well as helping to drive the commissioning and operation phases of this world class project. I oversaw erection of the Rolling Section of this SMS Hot Strip Mill working closely with SMS/ISG Erection and Commissioning Engineers. While carrying out my daily duties I have also worked with others to implement numerous programs such as Lean/TPS Continuous improvement processes, Lockout / Tryout, 5S, Work Instruction, Predictive and Preventative Maintenance Plans, as well as helping to implement these programs in other areas. A very detail oriented person with a tenacious work ethic and unwavering dedication to the goal of building, starting, and operating a World Class Steel Mill while helping to develop a World Class Maintenance Team.

Nucor Steel Hot Mill/Caster Lead Mechanic – July 2000 to Jan 2006

Started with Nucor during construction phase of Hertford County, as a Caster Mechanic. Oversaw the installation and commissioning of several of the 6” Caster Systems to ensure proper on time start up. While in the commissioning phase of the caster, was a Shift Crew Leader of 6 – 15 personnel in the Mold and Segment shop working to get spares built up and commissioned as well as implement procedures to speed up the rebuild of this equipment. Worked as a Shift Mechanic on the 6” slab caster. Transferred to Nucor Decatur in July of 2002, to support the restart of the 3.5” Caster’s. Wrote the PM program for the Caster area and was a key member of the D7i Asset Management Team. After completing startup, moved to the Hot Mill as a Lead Mechanic, working with 15 mechanics, I coordinated daily maintenance as well as scheduled downturn maintenance coordination with plant employees as well as contractor maintenance. . Since being in the Hot Mill, have coordinated the planning, installation of the Main Mill Drive Upgrades as well as the refurbishment of the Pair Cross Mill adjustment system utilizing new Laser Measuring Technology. Most recently have taken on the rebuild and upgrade of the Tunnel Furnace systems utilizing the latest in refractory technology and material technology to lower the costs of operation and maintenance of the furnaces. I am the leader of the High Angle Confined Space team as well as Lead EMT, and STOP Committee member. I have recently attended the International Rolling Technologies Course and graduated from Dale Carnagie Professional Development Course

Oversaw construction of multiple building and equipment installations during the construction phase. Aided in purchasing various equipment to be used on site, as well as in the mechanical shop.
