Cascade Die Casting – GLD – is an aluminum die cast company. Operations include Cast/Trim/Vibe/Assembly

As Lean Champion – implementing 5S and basics of Lean Manufacturing at this time. Quality Engineer – duties include APQP Coordinator, training in APQP processes, Facilitator for FMEA’s, creating Control Plans and Process flows. As TS-16949 Representative –I am responsible for the TS-16949 system in this building. Currently we are stream-lining the system to make it more manageable for the staff we have available without compromising the standards. I report to the General Manager.

Belcan Engineering – Peoria, IL 309-***-**** 2008 - 2011

Sr. Quality Engineer

Belcan provided contract design engineering services for heavy machinery. As design and process failure mode effects analysis (FMEA) facilitator; championed critical safety improvements needed to address mechanic’s safety, while working on the Caterpillar tractor’s redesigned hydraulic hood-lift and added belly guard. A worker lost his life while performing routine maintenance on their previous product design. Streamlined and improved engineering department processes, using Lean methodology. Due to an economy downturn, Caterpillar lost significant business and closed many plants. Consequently, my position was eliminated.

Rives Manufacturing – Rives Junction, MI Ph 517-***-**** 2006 - 2008

Sr. Quality Engineer

Formed steel wire rods to make muffler hangers and soldered furniture. Responsibilities included; working directly with the development team, the preparation of control plans and dialing in the process to assure prototype parts met customer specifications.

Notable Accomplishments

• Completed 6 Lean Projects; resulting in a total savings to the company of more than $100,000.

• Created successful “Eliminate Waste Program”, with over 75 suggestions implemented.

• Facilitated team building; improved employee moral by having everyone feel they were part of the team.

• Created, edited, and published company newsletter to communicate lean activities and successes.

River City Plastics –Three Rivers, MI Ph 269-***-**** 2005 - 2006

Quality Engineer

Manufactured plastic injection molding parts for their customers. Responsible for providing corrective action responses to our company’s largest customer Lear Corporation. Duties also included the preparation/submittal and approval of Production Part Approval Processes (PPAP) for new products. Company was in bankruptcy when I hired in, but was told they were coming out of it. It didn’t happen and my position was eliminated.

Progressive Coatings – Spring Arbor, MI Ph 517-***-**** 2003 - 2005

Quality Manager/Engineer

“E” coated customer parts using an electrostatic coating and bake process. Hired to bring this company out of QS-9000 probation, previous audit resulted in 20 major findings.

Responsibilities also included: (1) primary customer contact for new sales, customer complaints, suppliers and employees, (2) maintained waste management system maintenance and performed titration measurements for the pretreatment tanks prior to the paint processes, (3) Generated Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), PPAP, and SPC documentation.

Notable Accomplishments

• Transitioned company, with 20 major findings, out of QS-9000 probation in just 1 month prior to recertification audit.

• Prepared quality manual, compliant to QS-9000 in just 1 month prior to recertification audit.

• Received $1,000 bonus for passing QS-9000 recertification audit with only 2 minor findings.

• Integrated Quality System compliant with TS-16949.

• Received certificate of achievement for pretreatment through PPG Industries.

Lenawee Stamping – Tecumseh, MI Ph 517-***-**** 2002 - 2003

FMEA Facilitator/ Lead Auditor

Made car core-frame assembly for Ford/ Mazda, stamped out then welded these assemblies using a lot of robotics. Responsible to oversee companies comprehensive internal audit program to assure compliance to; QS-9000 and ISO-14001 requirements, safety and housekeeping procedures, and process work instructions. Shortly after QS-9000 recertification audit was passed with zero findings, the company was sold and this plant was significantly downsized.

Notable Accomplishments

• Trained internal auditors. (On the job for 6 months, annual QS-9000 compliance audit had zero findings.

• Provided FMEA training to engineering department, supervisors, and machine operators.

• Initiated cross functional teams to drive design or process improvements for FMEA’s.

Pilot Industries – Ann Arbor, MI Ph 734-***-**** 1996 - 2002

Quality Engineer

Pilot designed fuel systems for automobiles. Responsible for the implementation of QS -9000 program within a research & development (R&D) environment. Our group developed new products, and maintained pilot production of these products at the Technical Center for a one year period. These products were then transitioned to the extrusion line of our manufacturing facilities. A plug-N-play package was provided containing all control plans, processes, and tooling at time of transition.

Notable Accomplishments

• Provided all APQP (Advanced Product. Quality Planning) activities for newly developed products.

• Principle technical support provider to our production facilities.

• Taught SPC short run charting for R&D, and how to create and interpret FMEA control plans.

• Setup software for electronic data entry at all plants, allowing “real-time” data analysis for; reliability verification testing, and test accuracy.

• Provided certification test data packages to customers, proving that our custom paper gauge X-ray measuring equipment could indeed accurately measure the fiber-weave of a piece of paper as advertised.
