To Whom It May Concern:
I am extremely interested in a position within your company and would like to share more information about myself. I recently graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelors of Science in Commerce and Business Administration. I also worked toward and received a double minor in Computer Science and Economics. My primary concentration was in finance. During my course of study, I completed numerous classes involving a variety of disciplines including Microsoft Office, computer based business applications, website design, and strategic business management. I am currently taking IT Professional classes online to further my knowledge. Throughout my studies I have gained written and oral communication skills which are vital to business success. I have an understanding of communication in a business environment and I am able to respond effectively in writing and verbally to sensitive and non-sensitive situations.
One of the requisite classes for a business degree is Strategic Business Management. During this class I was instructed, gained, and applied hands on experience on how to expand a well organized company by first formulating a “game plan” then implementing and executing the plan with proficiency. This strategic analysis would allow the company to maintain a high competitive advantage and continue its growth. As one of my class projects I created a business and carried out all of the related aspects associated with conducting this business and its operations. I feel this gave me an insight for the work environment for various reasons. One of these was the challenge to create a competitive strategy that resulted in maintaining good financial performance and remain globally competitive. Classes such as these taught me to think rationally and logically when faced with business related decision making. Although I have minimal experience in the actual working business field, I feel that I am a good candidate for employment with your organization.
In addition to my formal education I am self motivated and quick to learn. I have strong work ethics. My personality is one that gets along with everyone; I feel that I have the “people skills” necessary to make a good employee for your company. My past work experiences have included serving as a camp counselor for children during the past six summers and working as a cashier and waitress at McAllister’s Deli while in college. Both of these experiences led me to be a good communicator and one whom understands what has to be done and follows it through. I have also been involved in many non academic activities such as member of a competition twirling team and the University of Alabama’s color guard. From these experiences I gained the knowledge of what is vital to be a team player. These experiences have strengthened my ability to prioritize and finish duties in a timely manner.
I feel that I will be an asset to your team. I have attached my resume and would be glad to provide you with any additional information at your request. I would like to thank you for your time and for your consideration.
Thank you,
Celia Jones
