Katie Marie Wood
To Whom It May Concern:
I am very interested in pursuing a career in pharmaceutical sales. I feel confident that the numerous skills
and responsibilities I have acquired while attending graduate school in psychology are well suited for this
field. I possess a very outgoing personality and flourish in challenging and results-oriented environments. I
am certain that my competitive nature, combined with my interpersonal skills, will only lead to future
success given the opportunity to work for such a respectable pharmaceutical company.
I graduated cum laude from Birmingham-Southern College in May 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree
in Psychology. It was during my undergraduate career that I familiarized myself with the importance of
helping others. Therefore, I decided to further my education by attending graduate school at the University
of South Alabama in Mobile. In May 2008, I will graduate with a Master of Science degree in Psychology.
As a graduate student, I have conducted weekly therapy sessions at South Alabama’s Psychology Clinic with
clients who are experiencing depression and anxiety. This exposure has enhanced my ability to
communicate ideas and concepts clearly and effectively. Within my course work, I have investigated the
biological mechanisms associated with psychological disorders and have given numerous presentations to
classmates and faculty members on various topics, including the effectiveness of antidepressants in the
treatment of depression. The knowledge and experiences I have gained while attending both South
Alabama and Birmingham-Southern have fostered my competitive-nature and allowed me to refine my
organizational skills. I feel confident that my communication, time-management, and organizational skills
will enable me to excel in a sales position.
As a result of my clinical encounters, I have received a first-hand account regarding the importance and
effectiveness of pharmaceuticals in the treatment of depression and anxiety, specifically. Therefore, I am
very interested in the employment opportunity that is available. I thank you for your time and I look
forward to hearing from you in the near future. Please feel free to contact me with any additional questions
you might have.
Sincerely,
Katie Wood
