EXPERIENCE
Research Scientist
Alcatel-Lucent Shanghai Bell, Shanghai, China Apr. 2010 ~ Apr. 2012
Responsible for the project of Inter-Cell Interference Coordination in LTE/LTE-A Heterogeneous Networks. Focused on the inter-cell interference between macro and small cell and among small cells. Proposed a set of frequency/time-domain and power control methods to mitigate such interference. Showed the gain in LTE system level simulation in MATLAB;
Leader for the project of Spectrum Sharing for 4G Wireless Communications. Extended the LTE/LTE-A systems with cognition features which enable LTE/LTE-A users to dynamically access the under-utilized spectrum (e.g. TV white space). Showed the advantages in both LTE system level and link level simulations in MATLAB. Also a Demo system was developed in Linux (programmed in C/C++) to verify the proposed system. Filed two patents for this project. (see “PATENTS”).
Research Assistant
University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, NB, Canada Sept. 2005 ~ Feb. 2010
Responsible for Prof. Julian Meng’s project of NBI suppression in OFDM-based communication systems. A complete OFDM model was established and simulated in MATLAB. Three NBI suppression methods were proposed and significant BER improvements were demonstrated in MATLAB simulation. Based on this project, three journal papers were published. (see “PUBLICATIONS”);
Responsible for Prof. Julian Meng’s project of FPGA image processing. Evaluated various digital image processing algorithms in MATLAB simulation and then implemented the sharpening and smoothing filters within the FPGA structure (Both Altera and Xilinx FPGA were applied);
Lab instructor for over 6 courses in Electrical Engineering. This work included giving tutorials on how to perform experiments and illustrating knowledge and methods related to the lab.
EDUCATION
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering
University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, NB, Canada Sept. 2005 ~ Feb. 2010
Major: Communications and Signal Processing;
