1995 – 8/2011 Maintenance Supervisor Graphic Packaging Intl. Kalamazoo, MI.

Central Shops Maintenance Supervisor at a 1500 TPD recycle paperboard mill in Kalamazoo, MI. Directed, managed, planned and scheduled various maintenance crews consisting of twenty-two multi-craftsmen for machine shop, critical spares repairs, pipe and sheet metal fabrication, general paper machine repair and plant facilities maintenance.

• Conducted daily planning meetings with crews to discuss safety, schedule performance, maintenance and production issues.

• PIV safety committee member routinely participated in investigations of safety incidences and accidents throughout the facility. Performed periodic safety audits to comply with OSHA and MIOSHA Regulation

• Develops and manages capital requests for major maintenance improvement projects. Directed and managed contractor millwright, pipefitting, and fire protection repairs and services throughout the mill.

• Lead and coordinated the off-shift 24/7 maintenance crews and scheduled weekend maintenance crewing.

• Extensive experience both production and maintenance in manufacturing of the GPI’s Marvac plastic extruded paperboard converting operations.

• Obtained Yellow Belt, participated as team member in mill LEAN/Six Sigma projects for continuous improvements in mill systems and manufacturing problems, RCFA analysis and parts optimization.

• Established and managed the Yale Fleet Maintenance contract for all mill mobile equipment in both the Kalamazoo Paper Mill and Kalamazoo Carton Plant.

• Frequently performed duties as paper machine nighttime maintenance startup supervisor for planned scheduled shutdowns. Responds 24/5 to Mill emergencies and rotated with the mill staff on weekend call duty

• During 2002 performed duties as both a mobile equipment mechanic and a shift millwright during a seven month labor dispute.

• In 2007 completed a three month temporary assignment to reestablish the Maintenance Planning Department at the GPI Carton Plant in West Monroe, La.

• 2008 thru 2009 acted as the paper roll maintenance coordinator for the1200 TPD recycle paperboard machine. Attended Beloit Paper Machine Maintenance Course 1996 and Metso Roll Maintenance School 2008.

• In March 2011 participated in the facility’s conversion to SAP Purchasing and Maintenance Management. Proficient in MS 2010 Excel, Word, Outlook and Project Software.

1990 - 1995 Maintenance Superintendent Virgin Islands Alumina Corp. St. Croix, U.S.V.I.

Maintenance Superintendent at an Alumina Plant in the production of aluminum oxide from African and Venezuela mined bauxite. Directed and managed maintenance activities for the mobile equipment operation and repairs, a full service machine shop, a non-destructive testing (NDT) crew, various predictive and preventative maintenance programs, and a plant facilities maintenance crew.

• Directed and managed five front line West Indies nationality maintenance supervisors and 62 hourly personnel that operated with a five million dollar budget.

• Directed entire mechanical maintenance operations during the initial phase of the restart of a chemical alumina plant from 6/90 to 3/92.

1986 - 1990 Maintenance Planner Port Hudson Louisiana Mill Georgia-Pacific

Maintenance Planner and relief Maintenance Supervisor for a Steam and Recovery Department of a 2000 TPD production pulp and fine paper mill. Responsibilities included planning and scheduling, general maintenance, and scheduled shutdowns for five steam boilers, three evaporator units, a waste treatment plant, and deep water wells pumps for mill use and fire suppression, bark disposal conveying system, and numerous process pumps.

• Project Manager for +3/4M dollar recovery boilers projects: duct work and precipitator repairs, piping insulation repairs, tank salvaging; cooling tower rehabilitation and precipitator drives redesign.

1985 - 1986 Project Engineer Folgers Coffee, New Orleans, La. G.P.A. Technical Consultants

Project Engineer contracted to Proctor & Gamble’s Folgers Coffee Plant in New Orleans, La. producing vacuum packaged and canned coffee product distributed nationwide. Involved in project team management on various “concept to start-up” plant projects in conveying, roasting and can vacuum packaging. Responsibilities included capital requests, specification writing, equipment selection, scheduling, cost control, and construction.

• Designed and managed the construction of pneumatic conveying systems that allowed multiple transferring of roasted coffee beans.

• Reduced the costs of coffee chaff reclaim project from $120,000 to $15,000, upon completion resulted in an annual costs savings of $1,200,000

• Solved a major problem in the ground coffee product stream which improved productivity which enabled Folgers’s to market their new “flaked” coffee product nationwide.

1980 - 1985 Maintenance Engineer /Production Supervisor Kaiser Aluminum, Chalmette, La.

Maintenance Engineer at an aluminum reduction plant in Chalmette, Louisiana, which produced primary aluminum from overseas alumina. Provided maintenance support for daily operations and completed cost reduction projects for the Reduction and Metal Products Division.

• Performed a special assignment in Jamaica, West Indies as a Maintenance Engineering Adviser to an alumina production plant

• Participated as a Construction Project Engineer for a major $75 million construction project for a nine mile Cable Belt Ltd. bauxite conveying system located in the south coast of the island of Jamaica.

• Performed duties at the aluminum reduction plant in Chalmette, La. as the primary troubleshooter in a planning maintenance team. Became the plant's vibration analysis expert in IRD Mechanalysis.

• Production Supervisor in hot metal casting and rod manufacturing plant operations in Chalmette, La., supervised 20 hourly personnel working on a southern swing shift operation.
