Product Engineer 1990 – 2007
Composed detailed fitting and valve component design drawings for forging and machining operations as well as for quality inspections. Maintained drawings, design programs and product catalogs insuring compliance with current industry standards. Performed initial evaluation of commercial and government customer inquiries and specifications for technical and quality requirements.Collaboratively worked with sales, manufacturing and quality departments to define customer requirements, expectations and expediting. Recommended product design and materials for special customer applications. Troubleshoot product problems involving designs, materials or processes and provided job site technical assistance. Coordinated third party testing of new and existing products and prepared test results for evaluation and course of action. Implemented the use of AutoCAD to replace drafting board drawings. Set up drawing control and access to BOM drawings for authorized departments to reduce the process time between engineering and sales for customer project drawing submittals.
Redesigned the branch connection fitting product line to reduce the size consolidation range for pipe attachments which substantially reduced warehouse inventory.
Qualified our Standard Class valve line pressure temperature ratings for a higher Limited Class pressure temperature rating. Qualification was done in accordance with ASME B16.34 Annex F. Qualifying our existing valve design for a higher rating helped reduce inventory and shorten customer lead time on projects.
Product Engineering Manager 2007 – 2011
Provided front-line product management for the valve and fitting product line including: personnel, product application, customer projects and quality. Collaborated with other departments to improve daily operations, trouble shooting and resolving issues.
Coordinated joint efforts with manufacturing and quality to revise existing fitting product lines to reduce raw material requirements for an overall cost savings.
Joined forces with the Quality Control Department to implement ISO 9001 processes and ensured product engineering department activities are in compliance with the ISO 9001, Quality Management System.

Worked in the refiner plate division. Designed new refiner plate patterns and improved existing patterns for optimal pulp through-put to increase production while providing a consistent end product from thermo- mechanical pulping machines. Team member involved with research and development to determine the feasibility of using lasers to hardface and apply abrasive coatings to refiner plates to extend operational life.
