WORK EXPERIENCE

Electrical Instructor

August 2009 - present

Corinthian Colleges, Inc. Everest Institute | Houston, TX

Electrical instructor for 15+ trade school students, teaching the basics of electricity, such as Ohm's law and electrical theory, to a hands on explanation of residential, commercial, and industrial electrical theory such as electrical motors, troubleshooting techniques, and P.L.C. programming. Giving two, 5 hour classes a day has renewed my electrical knowledge to a very detailed level, enough to lecture 4 straight hours of nothing but electrical theory, while instilling a new sense of leadership and self-initiation, as I am mostly unsupervised and left responsible for all my student's progress. Obtained micro-management skills through having to maintain records of attendance, grades, and progress of each individual student.

Head Electrical Technician

September 2008 - March 2009

Comrent International, L.L.C. | Houston, TX

Head Electrical Technician for Comrent International, a company who rents out Transformers and Load Banks to big clients, to test out their back-up power distribution systems. As the Head Electrical Technician, I was responsible for duty assignments to other technicians, training new technicians on system operation and troubleshooting advice, keeping a complete up-to-date active accurate inventory on all equipment in the region. Highlights in my career for this company is I was assigned Head technician at jobsite, which is equivalent to a foreman, in a matter of weeks of joining the company, and single handedly turned around the Houston branch of this company, as it was in a very unorganized state, with no technician or personnel really taking charge. Systems worked on include power distribution, multi-parallel switches, resistance, wiring, proper equipment grounding procedures, and corrosion prevention and control.

Avionics Work Center Supervisor/ Aircraft Electrician

October 2000 - October 2008

Marine Attack Squadron 231, United States Marine Corps

Achieved a Honorable Discharge as a Sergeant (E-5) from the Marine Corps while doing numerous jobs, mostly concentrating on being an Avionics Technician for the AV8B Harrier Aircraft. Became an Avionics Work Center Supervisor as a Corporal (E-4) which is a job usually assigned to a higher ranking Marine (Staff Sergeant E-6) so stepping up to the plate and taking control was something instilled in my work ethics early. Mentored various junior Marines and was a knowledge instructor for Marine Attack Squadron 231, teaching various system operational descriptions to a large group of 80+ marines at one time. Managed and ran the Avionics/Electrical maintenance operations for a 20 aircraft $13 million, maintenance division, having 25 personnel under my direct command. 2 overseas tours during "Operation Iraqi Freedom" as the shop head have taught me the ability to work with other, manage logistics, log maintaining, maintenance and operations control under extreme pressure, while still performing at an above average rate, enough to earn the Department of the Navy's Aircraft Electrician Journeyman's certificate. Awarded the Navy Accommodation Medal for my above exemplary performance as Work Center Supervisor during each tour in Iraq.

Electrical Technician II

March 2008 - May 2008

Jacobs Engineering | Houston, TX

Worked at NASA Johnson Space Center, Houston, Tx for Jacobs Engineering, Testing division. Trained astronauts in suit testing in altitude and oxygen absent runs in vacuum test chamber, as well contracted work and test for tools and items to be sent into space. Maintained the test chamber at a fully operational status, and executed changes to existing test systems from schematics and blue prints, for chambers 3 feet tall, to 10 stories high.
