I am perfecting my CMM programming skills at the Hexagon Metrology Precision Center in Nashville, TN. I have completed certification of PC-DMIS CAD++ Level 1 and Level 2 along with Romer portable arm certification. I have interned with Gene Osborn (Senior Contract Applications Engineer), Mike Grones (Applications Engineering Manager) and Barry Fox (Applications Engineer), some of Hexagon Metrology's senior programmers. I have over 200 programming hours in the seat, plus more than 500 hours programming offline. Recently I have accrued more than 600 hours under contract with Hexagon Metrology Services operating CMMs at CATEPILLAR in Joliet, IL.
I have limited time with the VMM and the Romer arm. My plan is to continue developing my skills on future projects.
I am experienced with Surface Plate layout, Sine Plates, Gage Blocks, Height Gage, Calipers, (digital, dial and vernier), Micrometers, Depth gages, Rockwell hardness tester, etc
2011-present: Hexagon Metrology: contract CMM operator and programmer. CATERPILLAR @ Joliet, IL. CMM Operator over 600 hours. Weighing parts from 150lbs to 1 ton. Using Leitz Reference 40.12.9 CMM with Leitz fixed probe, and scanning head. PC DMIS.
2010-2012: Macy’s warehouse: MHE operator, (fork-truck, cherry-picker), restock, replen, shipping.
1996-2009: I played pedal steel guitar, dobro, electric and acoustic guitars for Travis Tritt.
1993-1996: I played Steel guitar and acoustic guitar for Kathy Mattea.
1991-1993: I played Steel guitar for Turner/Nichols, opening for Alan Jackson.
1987-1991: Citco, Hendersonville TN. They made custom tooling for manufacturing firms across the world. I made specialty tools. From tool steel to carbide tipped. Operated lathes, mills, grinders, sand blaster, oxy-acetylene torches.
1986-1991: JCH Pedal Steel Guitars. I moved to Nashville, TN and was the lead machinist for JCH and I was responsible for machining all the many parts on these musical machines. I was responsible for designing all the jigs and fixtures to mass produce over 50 different parts. I also assisted in assembly of the guitars. The company hit hard times and I was laid off although I worked part time for them over the next 5 years. (The owner has since passed away and the company folded.)
1985-: Capital Machine Shop, Jefferson City, MO. This was a fixit shop. I worked as a general machinist, welder, and fabricator until I got the opportunity to move to Nashville, TN. I Operated lathes, mills, grinders, sand blaster, oxy-acetylene torches, etc.
1985-1983: State of Missouri. I was the assistant loading dock supervisor at the Truman building in Jefferson City, MO. I was responsible for all incoming materials for the entire 7 floor building. I organized the unloading and holding or distribution to received goods to their respective departments.
1983-1981: Toastmaster Inc. Boonville, MO. I worked in tool and die repair. We were responsible for the upkeep of over 500 punch press dies. From basic 1 stage dies to multiple progression dies. This also included the rebuilding of dies that were destroyed during operations. I operated lathes, surface grinders, shapers, mills, radial and drill presses, band saws, and Rockwell tester. We were also responsible for the plants general maintenance machining as well, from rebuilding lead screws to rebuilding the drive shaft on many presses. (Toastmaster made griddles, hot plates, waffle irons, toasters and everything in between.)
