WORK EXPERIENCE:
Product Development Engineer (Mar 2007 to Jun 2008)
Device Development Center, Wright State University
• Developed new biodegradable plates based on current clavicle plates using Sheet Metal Device Design and conducted stress analysis using Ansys and performed statistical comparison using JMP to compare its strength with metal plates
• Established Device Designing Phases to file 510(k) and successfully written proposal for the project grant
• Remodeled and computed various 3D models of hip joints knee joint, locking compression plate and TMJ joints using CT scan images and MIMICS. Removed metal noises from the CT Scan images using MATLAB signal processing
Graduate/ Research Assistant (Mar 2007 to Nov 2008)
Department of Biomedical, Industrial and Human Factor Engineering, Wright State University
• Coordinated and tested cadaver femurs and synthetic femurs to evaluate their fatigue properties at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. Conceptualized testing apparatus such as holding grips and then calibrated the testing machine used to acquire unique loading conditions
• Gained experience in validation engineering and project management and team oriented environment working with both medical and technical professionals
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE:
THESIS:
Biomechanical Evaluation Of Locked and Non-locked Plated Constructs Under Axial And Torsion Loading
• Experimentally tested different hybrid locking compression plated femur constructs and analyzed their insertion torque, stiffness and deformation properties to determine best combination using Statistical methods such as Annova and Kruskal-Willis methods in JMP.
• Analytically similar models were developed using Solidworks and MIMICS and analyzed their fatigue behavior in Ansys. Validated results with the experimental tested results and determined the best combination of hybrid locking compression plates femur construct
Overview of Biodegradable Polymers for Orthopedic Application
• Investigated different biodegradable polymers for orthopedic applications and developed a model to calculate biodegradation rate. Surveyed biocompatibility and FDA standards
Electro-Oculographic Signal Acquisition & Analysis Using MATLAB
• In a team environment, designed and developed a portable and a low cost ($100) unit for physiological data acquisition of EOG signals and tested for any errors
• Efficiently interfaced with PC using GUI (MATLAB), displayed signal and its characteristics
INTERNSHIPS:
Industrial Intern (Aug 2005 to Oct 2005)
Medical Electronics Division, Electronic Engineering Corporation, Chennai, India
• Designed & developed Wireless Thermometer and interfaced it with PC using a Graphical User Interface (GUI) on MATLAB platform and assisted Quality Engineers to test standards for various medical instruments such as EMG, ECG and Thermometer
• Hands on experience in soldering, PCB design, electronic instrument assembly and medical device development
Biomedical Department Assistant, Intern (Jul 2005 to Aug 2005)
