Duties and Responsibilities as a Welding Inspector/QA/QC Engineer

• Assist Project Engineers, CSRs, Construction Supervisors & static equipment Inspectors in all construction inspection activities, i.e. mainly in welding, NDE, testing, coating & painting, welding procedures and welder qualifications, independent quality integrity verification and documentation (test packs & quality plans) reviews & approval

• Liaise with Project Engineers, Discipline Engineer, Vendors and Company Technical focal point on Purchase Order details to plan inspection visits.

• Review detailed quality and manufacturing plans for each order and confirm key quality control items and hold points including NDT and fabrication procedures.

• Monitor implementation of contractor’s quality plans, inspection plans, procedures and work instruction. Verify contractor’s records of calibration, inspection & test equipment.

• Ensure that the welding activities carried out by construction and maintenance contractors are performed to the Company standards, specifications and PO requirements.

• Review and endorse the welding procedures submitted by contractors for the company Technical Authorities (TA-2 )final approval including quality plans & NDE procedures.

• Witnessing of welding procedure qualification tests to the Company’s specification including hydrostatic & pig testing operations.

• Witness welder’s qualification, issue respective cards and maintain qualification records.

• Conduct surveillance inspection/expediting as per the plans on the activities involving welding, painting, materials, dimensional inspection, etc., including witness/review Hydrostatic testing & NDE results and review of test packs. Produce inspection reports to PEs, CSRs.

• Monitor /report fabrication includes; welding performance; material review; NDT report review; radiographic film review; dimensional checks; witness hydro-tests; verify painting quality; review test packs, equipments. Witness hold and witness points as per the plan.

• Having good practical experience with Punch list & Test package and codes & standards like ASME/API.

• Assist and participate in quality & HSE audits and other inspection as applicable.

• Preparation of detailed Inspection cum Quality Report and maintaining ISO 9001 documents.

• Works with the Contractor to make them aware of industry best practices and safety guidelines that are specific to their discipline.

• Maintain database and feedback on contractor’s performance.

• Attended the auditing of quality systems & documentation in construction sites.

• Reviewing ITP and qc procedures & Approval.

• Inspections of material delivery as pre approved quality plans and as per contract requirements.
