• Start-up Company of anaerobic digestion using organic waste materials for the production of natural gas / renewable energy bio gas. Part owner overseeing all aspects of the LLC’s. These areas include financial (structures, funding), engineering, biology, manufacturing and governmental/contractual needs. I performed engineering design over site and all operational criteria needs in logistic, feed stock, management areas and responsibilities. The renewable energy project seeks funding for a 22 million gallon digester facility to be built in Iowa. I have also been doing consulting in the renewable energy areas involving combined geothermal, wind, waste water systems tied to digesters for energy production efficiency.

• Lead and oversaw development ($65 million) of plant operations and engineering structure for anaerobic digester operation. This is a process of using organic byproducts in various biological structures for production of Bio Gas. The Bio Gas is then cleaned up via complex engineered equipment process and transferred into natural gas pipelines.

• Oversaw successfully site preparation of boring, geographical history, plotting/survey needs, city council permitting requirements, DNR (dept. of natural resources) permitting of air / water / land emissions, city waste water contract and requirements in discharge, meetings with mayors and city department officials.

• Developed successfully engineering requirements for waste bio material movement delivery systems involving side dumps/tanker off load and mixing/treatment of incoming materials in preprocess requirements of 1600 tons daily.

• Development also included instrumentation/controls engineers, biological/chemical design processes, design/layout physical plant, automation/performance evaluations, research/development processes, project management personnel, budgetary and costs benefit areas, designed customized movement system design handling over 9,000,000 pounds of material per day. Also design assist/implementation of gas train system of 14,000 horse power for custom application in gas compression and cleaning for gas pipeline insertion.

• Provide and develop operational support functions in logistic, farms, business inputs; profit margins and area performance.

• Developed some patentable design work and proprietary processes not seen in the industry.

• Did full Start-up of organic food manufacturing and marketing-sales company. Developed-wrote PPM, wrote marketing and design work for retail packaging, handled all sales. I developed all pork, beef, BBQ product lines (FDA, USDA), all outsourcing in manufacturing, developed all organic farmer bases, formulation of frozen organic entrees, distribution and logistics, and oversaw all accounting and business functions. This company in less than 17 months had 15 sku facings in retail stores. Product can be purchased in Lunds-Byerly’s, various cooperative stores in Midwest.

Oct. 2000 – Sept. 2001 Minter-Weisman / Fleming Inc. Plymouth, MN

• Executive position in $420 million dollar company annually servicing 2200 convenience-grocery stores in 6 states with 300 employees, 30,000 SKU, broken case pick-pack operation. Company had lost over 100 million in sales over a 5-year period. Hired to stabilize and turn around operations through development of quality, customer, I.S., sales, marketing, and distribution projects.

• The results included productivity improvement over 15%, customer complaints down 20%, logistics-delivery on time improved 30%, target corporation sales increase 27%, and customer sales increased 12 million over a 7-month period. Inventory levels reduced 4 million per month and goal of 3-week turns, E3 buying-system program expanded, EDI program expanded. Sales expansion project included our own manufactured label in coffee, pizza, and breakfast foods (flow thru). Program included posturing with joint partnerships involving other distributors.

• A 3 billion dollar food sales company that services the airline industry with 130 worldwide service centers. The Minneapolis unionized facility consisted of 350-500 employees (union) depending on the seasonal demands. It serviced Northwest, American, United, and 8 other airlines on 24-7 basis. Average max volume saw over 40,000 meals prepared-manufactured (international, domestic) daily in an industry where failure is not an option. Direct and indirect reports of 280 employees, supervisors, and managers with P&L of $32 million.

• I was directly responsible for leading various teams in numerous (>30) Six Sigma projects to turn around operational performance. I left this position after near 3 years for Minter-Weisman.

• Results….First year (1999) improved operational efficiency by $245,000 per year through process improvement and lean manufacturing. EBIDTA hit new facility record. Designed workstations that corporate made standard design for all service centers worldwide. Redesigned production area and assembly lines. Instituted material delivery systems, MDS, equipment delivery system, EDS, and material requisition system, MRS, on material side. Instituted “Gold Standard” practice, which insured exact to specification menu requirements. This program also became a standard through corporate. Second year (2000) improved operations additional $480,000 per year by implementation of all programs. EBIDTA hit another new record. During my tenure, the Minneapolis facility rated 50 out of 130 in the Sky Chefs system when I started, became number 3 out of 130 in the world by end of my 2.5 years there. Our facility received the “Presidential Award” from corporate in the year 2000. American Airlines awards our facility best in nation for year 2000.

• Fortune 300 corporation which consisted of a call center division serving AOL, Hewlett Packard, and others in 1500 employee operation. I served and directed the manufacturing division, 3 facilities, consisting of clients such as Micro-Soft, HP, 3DO, and other software companies in a fulfillment operational function. We ran an assembly packaging operation with an avg. of 290 employees in a $49 million sales division.

• Results included expanded ISO9000 and developed quality program that monitored / audited vendors in corrugate, plastic, printing, and duplication areas. Required printing knowledge, duplication equipment knowledge, injection, disk specifications, and special vendor spec. - adherence checks. Reorganized process managers to JIT system board to enhance efficient use of space and quality measures. Re-designed current assembly line stations, which increased capacity and improved labor adding over 11% to margin. Consulted corporate in call center matrix reporting designs off PBX systems and performance matrix cycle per call for production and capacity. Left to return to Minnesota to care for mother who had a stroke.
