> SimManager 2011 and SimManager R3.2 Duration: April'2011 to
July2012
MSC SimManager Enterprise Edition (SimManager) is a dedicated solution for
modeling and executing engineering simulation studies. SimManager
automates simulation processes and content management and provides a
complete pedigree of information so engineers know exactly how a particular
study was performed or how it compares with other similar studies. This
empowers engineers with the confidence to make knowledgeable decisions that
lead to true product innovation. SimManager facilitates simulation
processes by integrating external batch-based server applications,
enterprise databases, enterprise services and client applications. The
typical workflow in SimManager is dependent on the current (active) actor
(user): In general, "configurator" will be responsible for system
modifications (schema, object types, procedures, etc.), "administrator"
will be responsible for authentication and authorization (adding users and
user privileges), "manager" will be responsible for creating and managing
projects (reviewing, monitoring and approving data (life Cycle) and/or
processes) & finally "users" (i.e. analyst, designer, visitor) will manage
and view data (import and export data) and execute pre-defined procedures.
Most of the current SimManager customers use SimManager as a data
repository. They store the analysis input files in the vault and then down
load them to execute the processes locally and then store the result files
back to SimManager. For some customers, the execution of the procedures
are also orchestrated through SimManager using pre-defined custom
SimActivities that launch and execute the solver, extract results and
generate reports.
SimManager provides out-of-the-box integration to MSC Software's core
applications, including MSC SimXpert, Patran, Adams, Easy5 and MSC
Software's leading solver technology, MD Nastran.

> SimXpert 2011 Automation Team & Performance Team Duration: Sept'2010
to April'2012
SimXpert is an integral component of the enterprise simulation environment.
SimXpert is a multi-disciplinary simulation environment for the analyst
including workspaces between which one common model can be shared. The
workspaces provide different tools appropriate to the discipline:
. Structures: Linear and nonlinear, static and dynamic Finite Element
Analysis (FEA) using MD Nastran
. Thermal: Linear FEA using MD Nastran
. Motion: Multi-body dynamics of rigid and flexible bodies using the Adams
C++ solver
. Crash: Nonlinear explicit dynamic FEA using LS-Dyna
. MD Explicit: Nonlinear explicit dynamic FEA using MD Nastran
. Template Builder: Captures Simulation Procedures Consisting Of SimXpert
Commands And Macros
. Systems and Controls: mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic,
thermal, gas dynamics, power train, vehicle dynamics analysis using Easy5
All solvers are included in SimXpert. Workspaces filter the simulation
model and only the parts of the model that have relevance to a workspace
are visible.
The simulation process allows knowledge capture and re-use through the use
of templates. The template builder allows you to:
. Define a sequence of tasks and sub-tasks.
. Drag-and-drop existing scripts in a visual editing environment.
. Publish the finished template to SimManager for re-use across an
organization.
We have prepared a Key Word driven framework for automation and using
Squish the scripts were created for the workspaces like Structures &
Motions. The framework had been kept on enhancement phase for some
functions that are required at the runtime. The object repository of this
framework is shared. The scripts are run on each build provided to QA as a
BAT and the results are published within 24 hours of time.

> BSM - Service Desk Manager - Support Automation Duration:
Jan'2009 to Sept'2010
SA SDM integration has to provide consistency in operations, process flow
and interactions with users. SA operations had become a part of the SDM
process through tight integrations with Knowledge Tools and Service Desk
with this release. Users will be able to leverage the power of these among
other tools in combination to resolve their issues. Integrating the
Support Automation tools tightly with the SDM process will help customers
see the benefits of the SA tools because analysts and end users will be
more likely to use them in the support process. Improvements to the analyst
interface in this release had made it easier for analysts to handle
multiple sessions at the same time and improve their access to other SDM
tools and processes from the SA analyst UI. It is now easier to manage the
Support Automation enabled help desk and to gain an integrated view of the
SDM process since the Support Automation reporting had been integrated with
the SDM standard BOBJ reporting and the MDB schema. This integration will
also provide easy customization of reports at customer sites.

BPAM helps define and manage storage area networks, which is an automated
workflow management. It simplifies, manages, and automates the process of
provisioning storage. It is used to monitor the applications to detect the
need of storage, manipulating the SAN attached disk subsystem to allocate
disk space, controlling the volume managers and applications to ensure that
they are able to use the new space made available.
BrightStor Portal is the integrated web platform used to integrate and
consolidate storage management related data providing common interface for
multiple admin functions.
It has 4 different components along with 5 instrument Sponsors which
help dynamic provisioning of storage space for a critically low volumes,
viz., Process Engine, Process Template Manager, Process Instance Manager, &
Task Workplace. The iSponsors are VxVM, SLVM, Windows LDM, BSM and USD.
To communicate between the sponsor and the network components an igateway
is being utilized.
PIM facilitates to use the predefined process templates or create a process
