Financial Officer and Manager for over 30 years. Experienced installing four integrated accounting systems, including Procas on a PC, Deltek on a Novell LAN, Solomon on a PC, and MSA on a main frame system. Responsible for staffing, training and supervising accounting and administrative departments since 1979.

Federal government contract and audit experience for 25 of my 30 years as an accountant. SEC and Big 6 audit interface at two of the largest consolidated corporations in the Washington DC area, for over 11 years. Computer skills include most spreadsheet software, word processing packages, some database applications and various proprietary DOS and Windows applications. One person financial, and human resources department for a 15-person government research and development contractor serving the department of defense and other agencies. Managed four to six contracts a year (CPFF, FFP and T&M), with revenue that grew to over $7,000,000 annually. Prepared all cost proposals for the federal government contracts, including securing subcontractor cost proposals. Drafted all subcontract agreements, in conjunction with the Project Manager, for up to five subcontracts per contract, reviewed the performance of those subcontracts on a monthly basis with project and corporate management. Prepared all proposed, and actual incurred cost budgets and reports for twelve years. Prime contact for both DCAA, and outside auditors for the same twelve years. In charge of all payroll, and benefit packages. Installed and used the “PROCAS” government accounting system since 2000 as a stand-alone version for ten years. Upgraded to the web-based version, with full modules in the fall of 2020, including the online timekeeping system. Used Peachtree accounting system; for payroll preparation, as “PROCAS” does not support payroll tax updates.

Hired by former COO of Decorating Den, after he aquired this Copier dealership. Subsequent review revealed that we were basically a start-up company. Responsible for all financial functions, from accounts receivable, to final financial statements. The highest priority item for the entire period was cash flow management. Success came through establishing a honest working relationship with our major vendors and the lease companies which finance all sales. The firm grew from copier sales of less than $40,000 in August 1997 to an average in excess of $325,000 monthly. Likewise the service revenue grew from $25,000 monthly to an average of almost $150,000 per month in 2000.

Prepared monthly, quarterly and annual actual and budgeted financial statements for seven consolidated corporations and divisions. Prepared and maintained subsidiary records and analysis for income, sales and use and payroll taxes in 15 states and for external and government audits. Managed an accounting staff of up to eight. Designed the chart of accounts, indirect pools and completely installed Deltek in six weeks in 1989. At this time the management of Alleco decided to reorganize by divesting the corporation of all its operating subsidiaries and retiring its bank debt. As a result there were three separate proxy solicitations and numerous 8-K current reports filed during my 15 months at Alleco. By the nature of this activity, I was in constant contact with the external auditors, corporate counsel and senior management up to the chairman of the board of this former $1 billion a year corporation.

Managed corporate headquarters accounting department, cost allocations and consolidation of subsidiaries financial results. Prepared all internal and external financial reports, including management reports, SEC reports and shareholder reports. Worked closely with the external auditors, corporate counsel and senior management up to the CFO. During this period UNC, Inc. was involved in a major litigation, acquired and divested itself of several major subsidiaries and changed from a nuclear mining and manufacturing company to an aircraft maintenance company. I was involved in the due diligence analysis of the major acquisitions as well as the acquisition accounting for them.

MISCELLANEOUS ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Treasurer - Eastern Rugby Union of America, a non-profit 501 [c] tax exempt corporation with an annual budget of $125,000. Elected to the board of this organization in 1984 and 1985, prepared the budget, worked with volunteer board of directors, maintained records, filed tax returns and returned the corporation to active legal status with the IRS. Played and coached rugby from 1972 to 1992 for the Washington Rugby Club.
