Community Involvement/Interests
Each year I participate with the Morongo Basin’s Relay for Life for the American Cancer Society. I set up fundraising booths and will be acting as a coordinating committee member for the 2012 relay. Since my last job I have focused on my education and since getting married in 2002 I have focused a large amount of time on my husband’s career devoting my time volunteering with the families of service members who are deployed to combat zones. Because my husband’s orders keep him in Twentynine Palms, I try to stay active in the programs with the base including participating in numerous fundraising events. In my spare time I use my love for sewing to make baby blankets to donate for layettes for new military mothers. I also try to utilize my experience in writing countless research papers and essays by tutoring local students. Volunteer activities have always been very important to me, even during high school where I was active in projects to help the homeless for which I was awarded the Los Angeles Archdiocese Christian Leadership Award in 1992. It is important for me to give back to my community as a way to give thanks for the wonderful opportunities I have in my life.
