Engineer Lead, VP 2004-Present

- Function as the Team Lead of the UNIX operations team and streamline UNIX production workflow. Manage and ensure timely resolution on all issues associated with the implementation, quality assurance, and production.

- Spearhead and maximize efficiency of a six-person UNIX team consisting of both local and offshore support staff tasked to ensure the reliability of more than 590 Sun Solaris including 196 virtual servers nationwide. Develop systematic plans for offshore implementations and direct offshore activities in India while managing and coordinating multiple functions of each team.

- Manage all facets of patch planning, coordination, and implementation as well as lead other projects for multiple clients as primary support for aspects / channels of JPMorgan Chase customer banking web sites. Review ECM (Enterprise Change Management), recommend appropriate action plans, and provide authorizations on user access requests; serve as implementation engineer responsible in streamlining project load; and actively participate in technology planning.

KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

- Improved the entire orgs patching process and procedures. Efficiently managed patching functions covering approximately 590 UNIX OS Instances, spanning Lab, QA, Performance, Production, and DR environments.

> Secured critical system files and initiated patching by creating a set of scripts involving multiple system reboots. Developed strategic administrator’s procedures, and coordinated multiple teams to create a group wide process.

- Organized and efficiently delegated tasks and rotation flow for the team

- Successfully migrated SAN on highly visible production clusters without affecting customer activities.

- Constructed automated processes to expedite the collection of information from various systems of record.

> Composed complex automated scripts to download current inventory and pull all ESM data on supported servers. Created, provided and improved commands for engineers to query subnet information, clone Enterprise Change Management (ECM) records, run commands across all servers in an environment to name a few.

- Mitigated risks and issues, as well as guaranteed timely and efficient completion of projects. Played a pivotal role in the successful completion of a fast track project of upgrading approximately 50 servers with required one-week turnaround time for each wave.

Systems Engineer III 2001-2004

- Worked in partnership with an eight-person UNIX team responsible in maintaining operational functions of more than 400 Solaris and Aix servers supporting the local data center in Des Moines Iowa, in addition to all of the Wells Fargo branches. Served as the technical resource on various application environments (Mortgage printing, OCIE)

KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

- Improved and ensured the seamless redesign of the mortgage print environment to load balance across multiple servers dynamically using F5 Big IP devices, with an environment homed to over 1500 print queues located across the US.

- Modified custom monitoring scripts that fixed all bug-related issues using Perl. These scripts enabled the intense monitoring on all servers and alerted CPU, disk, memory utilization, and messages file scrapper on bug threats.

- Composed a utility to pass pages to an online paging service and facilitated migration from the old environment that had a modem directly hooked up to a paging server in the datacenter which was removed shortly thereafter.

- Documented the installation and configuration of a console solution using a combination of Magma port concentrators and conserver software.

- Earned two service awards.
